The much fancied Renegades take on Heat, surely there is only one result here.
Melbourne Renegades come into the competition with some real ambition after the capture of Chris Gayle , Cameron White and Xavier Doherty. Renegades now have a batting line up to compete with anyone in the competition but are severely lacking on bowlers while Siddle and Pattinson are on international duty.
Brisbane Heat had a shocking campaign last year and the players paid the price, with Vettori, Christian, Milenko, Flintoff, Harris and Watson all leaving. Badree seems to be a good signing for the Heat, however Simmons is a questionable choice. Their squad looks pretty ordinary compared to others and will struggle for the whole campaign.
The Renegades will win this one easily and, if Melbourne bat first, the margin could be a bit embarrassing. Their opening partnership of Gayle and Finch has to be the most exciting in world cricket and then they’ve got the top order to go with it, consisting of Wade, Cooper, White and Bravo. Get on them at $1.67 and again it’s worth backing them to win by 25+ runs at $3.1.
Melbourne Renegades - 1pt @ 1.68
Our best bet is Samuel Badree to be the top Brisbane Heat bowler, one because he’s a talent but also because they haven’t got anyone else! He was the number one bowler in the world for T20 cricket for a long while, although he has lost top spot to Narine. The likes of Cutting, Hopes and Lalor won’t send many shivers down Gayles or Finch’s spine, but they might find it frustrating to score off Badree, which will test their egos.
Samuel Badree - 1pt @ 3.75
We’re backing Chris Lynn to be top Brisbane Heat batsman, he’s top scored for the Heat in the last two competitions and hit 243 runs from just eight knocks. He offers real value at $4.25.
Chris Lynn - 1pt @ 4.25
As mentioned before, the Melbourne bowling attack is severally lacking in strength and depth. There is some value in backing Doherty to be leading wicket for them tonight as he’s $6.5 with one bookie yet only $4.5 with another. However, we’re backing Dwayne Bravo to be the top Renegades bowler. Bravo is superb at the top of the innings and at the back end when they’re trying to clear the rope. We’re backing him at $3.75.
Dwayne Bravo - 1pt @ 3.75
