Adelaide travel to Brisbane to face the Big Bash whipping boys and are a very generous price!
Brisbane Heat v Adelaide Strikers
The Adelaide Strikers travel to Brisbane to take on the whipping boys of the competition. Once again the Strikers are showing they mean business in the group stage of the Big Bash and sit level on points at the top of the table with Perth. Heat, on the other hand, have lost four of their five fixtures with the only victory coming against the Thunder last time out. This fixture in last season competition served up a fairly easy win for the Strikers, thanks to a partnership between Head and Ross.
Heat are on course to finish bottom two years on the bounce, last time out was the only bright light on a dismal season. They got rid of old boys Flintoff and Vettori and replaced them with the questionable West Indian pairing of Simmons and Badree. Chris Lynn is the top scorer in this seasons competition yet has been overlooked by Australia which will please Brisbane. Other than Lynn nobody has scored over 90 runs for the Heat which is worrying.
Strikers have had a great season, with only one hiccup losing to the Thunder. There season has been built on their depth in batting, with Head, Hodge and Ross coming in 4,5 and 6 they’ve got the power to see out games and post big totals. Rashid has been their main weapon with the ball but credit has to be given to the other bowlers as only Richardson (8.05) out of their main stream bowlers has gone over 8 an over.
Strikers look amazing value in this game, we are shocked to see you can get on them to win at $1.7. We’re backing this and also looking at getting on some juicy odds in the winning margin market. Strikers to win 25+ runs or 7-10 wickets is $3.8 with William Hill.
Adelaide Strikers - 1pt @ 1.7
Top Heat Batsman
How can you not back Chris Lynn to be top run scorer for the Heat? He’s the only chance they’ve got of winning this fixture. The in-form batsman in the competition is $3.25 best odds to top score for the Heat which is short but deserved. I have no confidence in the Heat top order, which makes it worthwhile backing a lower order big hitter, Cutting looks good value at $15.
Chris Lynn - 1pt @ 3.25
Top Strikers Batsman
Jayawardene is favourite to be the Strikers Top Batsman after hitting 57 in the last game however he’s lacked consistency in the competition. The Heat have only taken 16 wicket in their five games, which is why we’re backing Head to top score again. Travis Head is on fire at the moment, he bats in the top four and showed last year he quite fancies facing up in Brisbane.
Travis Head - 1pt @ 4.5
Top Strikers Bowler
Adil Rashid has impressed everybody in this competition, he’s turning it and has got a few different options up his sleeve. He has improved his control since we saw him last time for England. At $4.5 he seems like a great bet to be top bowler for the Strikers against a very flimsy Heat batting line up who have shown already can be suspect to a bit of spin.
Adil Rashid - 1pt @ 4.5
Tim Ludeman Match Peformance - Spread Betting
Sporting Index makes predictions on a number of events and scenarios within a cricket match. The spread has two prices, a buy and a sell price. Our bet for this fixture is Tim Ludeman. Normally we would back Rashid but we fear he might not get a go with the bat so we would be relying totally on his bowling (which isn’t that much of an issue). The Heat struggle to take wickets which means Tim Ludeman should face some fairly generous bowling at the top of the order and hopefully be able to capitalise. There is a good chance that the Heat will be bowled out in this game which gives Ludeman plenty of opportunities to take a catch or stumping. You can buy Ludeman at 37 points, You can buy points for any stake, but the more each point is worth, the bigger both your liability and potential return.
So, how does Ludeman get points? The following applies:
- 1 point per run
- 10 points per catch
- 20 points per wicket
- 25 points per stumping
If, for example, he scores 20 runs and takes two catches, and nothing else, you’re in profit if you Buy as he’ll have scored 50 points (more than the 37 point spread). If Ludeman only scores 30 runs he would get 30 points, leaving you on -7 points. Therefore if you staked $10 a point you’d lose $70.
But if Ludeman scores 30 runs, takes a catch and a stumping he’d score 65 points, which would result in a profit of $280 from a $10 stake. Hopefully this makes sense, but click through to the Sporting Index website for further information
