The European Tour heads to the Lake Karrinyup Country Club in Perth and with it comes many international golfing stars, including, Louis Oosthuizen, Victor Dubisson and Alejandro Canizares, to name a few. However, our main fancies to snatch valuable World Ranking Points are home-grown talent.

One man who will know this course better than the majority of the field is West Australian star Brett Rumford. Rumford has gone a while without winning a major competition on the tour - he’s not finished top of the pile since winning back-to-back tournaments in 2013. Rumford has made the last six cuts on the European Tour and comes into the comp in decent form after finishing 11 under par in Dubai and then finishing tied 7th in the Tshwane Open after a disappointing opening round. Rumford has been priced up at $26 best odds to come out on top with William Hill and $6 to finish in the top 5.

Another Australian coming into the Perth International in cracking form is Marcus Fraser, after the short-hitting Australian won the Maybank Championship in Malaysia last week. Fraser might struggle to back up that performance, but if he produces a consistent four days like he did in Malaysia, then he’s well worth a bet. Fraser came 15th at Lake Karrinyup in 2014, and usually plays well on this course, however punters can still get on at a rather large $34.

We also think punters should keep an eye on both of the Blands this week. Pommie Richard Bland has had a steady 2016, finishing well under par in his last four competitions. His two highest finishes have been at the Maybank Championship where he tied 6th and the Qatar masters where he ended up tied 7th. Bland can be back at best price $46 with Sportsbet, but given how R.Bland normally plays in the opening round we’re tipping him for the first round leader at $51 at Bet365 where e/w is available and pays top 5. He was two shots off being the first round leader in Malaysia, and came very close in Abu Dhabi in January in a pretty strong field.

If you’re looking for a bit of value, the other Bland were backing is Adam. The Victorian-born Adam Bland can be backed at $161 best odds. It’s been a while since Bland won the Japan PGA Championship Nissan Cupnoodle Cup but the Aussie has been putting in good performances on the Japan Tour since.
