Tom Gilmore has five cracking bets from Thursday's racing action.
Hawkesbury R3 No.9 – EGYPTIAN SYMBOL
Think this is a nice filly who looks to have made good progression since her debut win as a 2yo back in July, recently trialled up nicely at Rosehill on a rain affected track (important on what could be a pretty soft surface today!) in front of some seriously talented gallopers (Sampeah G1 competitive!). Draws for the right run and looks hard to beat.
Egyptian Symbol - 1pt @ 3.6Non Runner
Ipswich R7 No.1 – HUNCHA DUNCHA
Former Victorian who won nicely on debut for D.Rideout, sat handy and really put them away upon straightening over the 1050m (race rated well on the day!). Looks even better suited to the 1100m and will no doubt strip fitter for the recent effort. Not concerned by the weight as its somewhat offset by the friendly draw. Had form down south around some very smart gallopers and can win again.
Huncha Duncha - 1pt @ 3.8Won 2.8pt
Flemington R4 No.6 - SECRET AGENDA
Really good filly who has her hoof on the till after a very promising effort over 1200m at Caulfield recently, was forced to do work three-wide/on speed (swoopers race!) and was only collared late by winner who had the soft run. Drops back to the 1100m which suits and drawing inside down the straight is a massive plus at this point of the carnival.
Secret Agenda - 1pt @ 5.0Won 4pt
Flemington R8 No.2 - JAMEKA
Really good filly who has been progressing to this point with each start this prep, sprinted well fresh early in her prep but has really come into her own stepping up in trip. Was a brilliant winner at G2 level at Moonee Valley two weeks ago (beat home Vic Derby winner!) over 2040m and didn't look at all like she wouldn't relish the 2500m at Flemington. Draws in and will be handy enough to them (box seating) at a point where its difficult to make ground.
Jameka - 1pt @ 4.0Won 3pt
Northam R2 No.1 - GRAVY
Comes out of a good race in town recently when settling just off them and sticking on to the line ok (overall time quicker than older horses later in the day!). Much fitter for the run and the progression to 1400m looks ideal, winner of that race was is smart and there doesn't appear to be the quality to overcome here. Should get the right run just off them.
Gravy - 1pt @ 4.2Lost -1pt
