It's an action-packed Saturday of racing and Tom Gilmore is on hand with his best bets.
Caulfield R2 No.4 - ANAPHORA
Was given a horrendous steer at Caulfield two weeks ago in a good race over the 1400m, leaders got away as she was strangled into a terrible position in the second half of the field. Got motoring late and produced some big splits but didnt look like from her seat in transit. Gets to 1600m and meets a pretty ordinary field in my opinion, last time at the 1600m here at Caulfield won well in good time!

Caulfield R4 No.1 - YULONG BABY
She's racing in great style this mare and the way she won here at Caulfield two weeks ago suggests she may very well string a few together. Was placed in a lovely position at the 1000m mark and popped off the leaders heels at the 600m to cruise through the line and win nicely. Dont mind the drop back to 1800m and the claim from M.Dee sees her well in at the weights. She's been competitive with Cox Plate winner Winx early in 2015.
Yulong Baby - 1pt @ 3.2
Caulfield R9 No.4 - BASS STRAIT
Former Victorian makes his first appearance back east in some time and he brings with him some brilliant form lines. Most recent outing only finished 2 lengths off the superstar Delicacy over 2100m in the Cox Stakes, prior to that was only 4 lengths off them in the G1 Railway Stakes over a mile at Ascot! Thats superb reading for a race like this and the fact he only carries 56.5kgs (drops 2.5kgs for runs behind Delicacy) suggests he should go very close.
Bass Strait - 1pt @ 4.4
Canterbury R1 No.1 - DETECTIVE
Lovely colt who wasnt far off stablemate and Golden Slipper favourite Capitalist on debut in October, has been freshened since and trialled up well at Randwick 15/12. He's a nice style of horse the fella and from the favourable draw he'll box seat and just be too good for them.
Detective - 1pt @ 2.35
Gold Coast R1 No.1 - WOLF CRY
This is a horse that was competitive on debut with Vancouver (Golden Slipper winner) and then at G2 level behind the super-freak Exosphere (one of the best 3yo's in the world). This race lacks significant quality and the way he trialled up and Randwick ten days ago (29/12) in slick time behind a flying machine suggest he's in super order. Gate 3 with B.Shinn on board, get in the queue!
Wolf Cry - 1pt @ 2.5
Gold Coast R7 No.1 - MAHUTA
Serious horse who has drawn the absolute carpark for this afternoon! Nevertheless he looks a class above, was an all the way winner of a high rating Gothic Stakes at Flemington last year over 1400m before heading to the G2 Sandown Guineas and being utterly dominant, he jumps/runs which should counteract the wide alley, fancy fresh at the 1400m wont be an issue. Has run time equivalent to G1 gallopers in the past so he's clearly good enough to win this.
Mahuta - 1pt @ 4.8
Morphettville R2 No.7 - TORCIDA
He was excellent fresh in a race dominated by those on speed (winner went all the way) two weeks ago at Gawler over 1100m, it was a tough day to make ground so I reckon the effort was quite good and they also ran good time relative to the older horses later in the day. Fitter/gets to 1200m which suits and manages to draw for a soft run if they elect to sit a pair closer. Track usually plays pretty fairly so if pattern allows it he can come over the top
