Warrnambool R4 No.7 - MISS COUNTERFEIT
I like this horse, her effort when returning fresh at Tatura over 1100m two weeks ago was very good, it was a day where leaders dominated. She was one of the few to make really good ground late and if it wasnt for some trouble when trying to wind up she may have gone very close. Fitter/1300m are big ticks, the "Bool tends to give those making ground down the centre of the track their chance so pattern may suit. If they bowl along she'll be coming home over the top with authority and I think with time she'll make a genuine city-class horse.

Warrnambool R6 No.7 - KISS IN THE RAIN
She appears a pretty smart 3yo this girl, was a very good winner back on debut at Donald late last year (ran ok time too v. older horses later in the day), also managed to beat a smart galloper called Conspicuous Maid who was competitive against Heatherly (since third in G1 Oakleigh Plate!) at Moonee Valley. Then was a month between runs at Moonee Valley where she went fairly, never looked overly comfortable from the jump so prepared to forgive. Havent seen her since but she does appear the class filly of the field and with natural improvement she looks hard to beat.

Hawkesbury R2 No.2 - LOCAL AFFAIR
Siding with the lone 3yo in the race, I really couldnt have been more impressed with the way he won fresh at Newcastle over the 1150m. Was pocketed entering the straight before finding clear running at the 250m mark, he then took some urging to pick up but really ran through the line in his final 50m to win well. Did this off the back of two pretty quiet trials so I fancy theres plenty in the tank, dont see any issue with the 1400m and the small field should mean he can be close enough to the leaders upon straightening. Horse on the up amongst a limited bunch.

Hawkesbury R3 No.2 - PROANE
He's a bit wayward this gelding but I reckon theres talent there. His debut in October last year at Warwick Farm over 1100m was quite good after missing the kick. He over-raced/did plenty wrong but managed to find the line nicely over the final 100m. Winner of that race was competitive against Le Romain (since G1 winner) so theres merit to the form. Liked his recent trial at Rosehill 29/2, he looked fresh and wanted to get things over and done with but showed he has the talent to be winning a race like this, like the quick turnaround off that trial as it may have just taken the edge off him. Expect him to settle leaders girth and be very tough to beat if he puts it together.
