Wangaratta R3 No.7 - SALLANCHES

Thought she was pretty good fresh at Bendigo in what was a much better maiden than this, she was wide/never looked overly comfortable but stuck on ok. Had jumped out well prior and with the run under her belt she'll be mighty hard to beat this afternoon. Wide draw no concern as I fancy they'll look to cross and lead. The extra trip wont harm her chances either.

Wangaratta R7 No.5 - ROUGH JUSTICE (NAP)

He was very good down the straight and certainly caught in the worst part of the track in relation to those that pushed to the stand side three weeks ago at Flemington. Stuck on gamely considering he led them up at a good gallop and was nabbed by a swooper late. This track will certainly play favourably to those on-speed and he should be close to his top today. First go at the 1300m but he's given no indication that he wont run out the trip.

Pakenham R3 No.9 - QUILATE

Was ok fresh at Moonee Valley behind a subsequent G2 winner, then went to Sandown and rolled forward giving plenty of cheek only to be nabbed by one with the box seat run (third has since come out and won). She reaches her peak third-up and finds a field that lacks quality. Anticipate she'll probably find cover in transit from gate 6 and just be too strong late, yes getting to the mile!

Pakenham R8 No.2 - TANSY

Like the big drop in grade for this fella, he's been racing in much better company of late (chased We've Got This well down the Flemington straight) of late. Tongue-tie goes on for the first time which suggests he may have been choking down of late? If he puts it all together, with a good tempo set by those on-speed, he should be motoring home over the top late. Is an accomplished Stakes performer over the 1200m in previous preparations.

Goulburn R1 No.5 - ECKSTEIN

This is certainly a city-class 2yo in my opinion, debuted back in November at Warwick Farm when well fancied but things went awry, was tipped out and has since returned nicely in a trial here 20/2 when doing things easily. Looks to have physically come on somewhat and with B.Shinn on board from gate 3 I expect her to be given every chance. If she's going to go on from here will be winning this.
Eckstein - 1pt @ 2.1

Goulburn R4 No.6 - HALL PASS

I know they fancied this horse at Wagga two weeks ago when she failed to fire, over-raced a touch which sees the blinkers come off today. Shinn will certainly elect to be positive from the wide draw and if she can settle/find her stride mid-race I see no reason why she cant offer plenty of catching late. Wasnt far off Cheeky Babe (city-class) late last prep, a return to that form has her right in this!
