Tom Gilmore's best bets for Geelong and Ballina this Tuesday, 5th April.
Geelong R2 No.13 - PERFECT BEAT
Reckon she was pretty good fresh at Pakenham behind a genuine city-class horse in Nats The Boss (ran well midweek metro since). Probably sat a touch handy to what proved a genuine gallop in transit and as a result fitness told late, the winner did swoop so theres merit in the effort. She strips fitter and gets the gun run in transit stalking what looks a more moderate tempo, was an improver into her second-up run last campaign so expect her to go close.

Geelong R3 No.7 - TORELLI (x2 NAP)
This colt was excellent on debut down at Warrnambool over 1100m after bombing the start, he made up considerable ground and was quite fierce after being fired up to join the field in transit. Checked off heels at the 400m/wobbled about but found the line nicely, step to 1300m will suit no doubt and he'll be better for the experience. Like when they hit the line well and run good overall time!
Torelli - 2pts @ 3.40
Geelong R7 No.1 - AUTUMN TIME
Mare stuck on gamely when finding the front at Sandown two weeks ago over 1200m in what proved a swoopers race (1st/3rd home from the rear of the field). Only went down 0.2 lengths when she had no right to finish that close considering it was her first crack at the trip. This looks a considerably easier race on paper and the speed nowhere near as hot. She'll roll to the front from the wide draw and be very hard to beat in my book with the run at the distance under her belt.
Autumn Time - 1pt @ 4.40
Ballina R2 No.12 - DUPAIR
Was a bit too bad to be true on debut at Taree so it was pleasing to see her go close when six weeks between runs at Scone over the 900m. Think the gelding that beat her is no slouch (had the soft run) and she'll definitely improve a length or two for the outing. Has the inside and only carries 53.5kgs after the claim from Murphy so you'd imagine she'd again be prominent in running. Bit of speed engaged though so if she jumps cleanly can elect to just drop in for the trail, perfect world just leads and wins?
Dupair - 1pt @ 2.80
