The Championships may be over, but the quest to find a winner doesn't stop.
Echuca R4 No.6 - MARYS DISCRETION
Thought her run at Wangaratta two weeks was very good, stalked a genuine tempo and was just no match for a smart one who' came over the tiop (suited swoopers) and won two weeks prior in town at Sandown. He's had the run at the trip (important) and the genuine speed of that race should ensure she's tightened up and as a result she is close to her top for today. Small field, she'll be close to them at the turn and should be too good!
Marys Discretion - 1pt @ 3.10
Echuca R7 No.4 - SAVA NUGGET
Taking a punt on him being really hard to beat here fresh (does go well first-up). He's been competitive with much better ones than this over the last 6-12 months and from the inside draw, which can suit here at Echuca, he'll go close. Needs to jump well in order to be getting a crack at them late but if so, hard to beat! Form around Onerous last prep has stood up going forward.
Sava Nugget - 1pt @ 3.60
Pakenham R1 No.4 - LE BOSS
Gets the blinkers going on for the first time after being good at a decent level in his three starts to date, was good on debut behind a smart one (who's since won at Stakes level) and his most recent effort at Sandown saw him only bettered by a few really handy types. Not a great deal of quality in this and he is race-fit, gets the right run on the map and should sharpen up by a length or two with the shades on.
Le Boss - 1pt @ 2.30
Pakenham R2 No.13 - STOP MAKING SENSE
Was nothing short of excellent fresh were she basically had no peace in transit, despite that fact manage to find the line very well and she did plenty wrong doing so. With that run under her belt/getting to 1400m she looks very hard to beat on paper. 5th out of that race has since come out and won in dominant fashion so expect it to hold up today in a race of less depth. Just needs clean air to wind up.
Stop Making Sense - 1pt @ 2.60
Pakenham R5 No.7 - JINX
Sounds odd, but she could be the mare 'on the up' despite having more than 25 career starts to date, was ridden dead cold when winning nicely at Sandown three weeks ago and was nothing but scintillating coming home with a huge final 400m over the top. Expect she's taken no ill-effect from that run and with the tempo looking genuine enough here she'll be flying home again. Mare in form, and should be winning!
Jinx - 1pt @ 4.80
Sunshine Coast R4 No.3 - IN THE KITTY
Ignoring a quiet trial she had at Deagon 15/3 (looked ok), instead assessing her debut this time last year where she made excellent ground in what proved a decent enough form race. Then went to town and won well before again performing to a good level in C1 grade. With natural improvement she can be winning this fresh as she builds towards bigger goals, fancy she might be a stakes-class filly come Brisbane winter carnival.
In The Kitty - 1pt @ 2.80
