Tom Gilmore's best bets for Wednesday, April 20th.
Sandown R4 No.5 - HOLY COW
Was terrific in G3 Sunline Stakes three weeks ago at Moonee Valley when first-up over the mile, got back and made really good ground in a race dominated by those on-speed. Second-up/strips fitter and a big track is a major positive, dont mind she draws out either as she needs room to build through her gears. Finished within 2 lengths off G1 winner Azkadellia in October over the 1600m last year.

Sandown R5 No.7 - TESSABELLE
She's a very nice horse thats found a brilliant niche' in midweek company when she quite comfortably is better than this. Rolled to the front here three weeks ago over the 1500m and really put them away with ease, runner-up out of that race has since gone on to just miss at Pakenham (form is ok). Again finds the front today and this lot is no more difficult than what she's overcome recently. Good mare.

Sandown R6 No.7 - BURTON
Went enormously when blinkers went on/rolling forward for the first time, ran good slick time overall too and did it all on his ear. We've seen a horse beaten 13 lengths from that race come out and win over the weekend, which is a great sign. Fancy he can certainly measure up again, wide draw no issue as he'll be handy to them and the fact he's drawn out means he more than likely will find 'A' ground. Will continue to get better with racing and is certainly a Saturday horse!

Canterbury R1 No.2 - CHUI
Been somewhat of a frustration as favourite in his past two outings in Melbourne, but quite keen to Sydney (first time going) and with Winkers on he can be very competitive. Will find the front quite easily it would seem and the fact we haven't raced here at Canterbury for two months should mean leaders will have every chance (fresh ground). Come up over the odds considering his SP profile, could be his day!
Chui - 1pt @ 12.00
Canterbury R5 No.5 - CRUISE POWER
Really nice 3yo returning for the first time since January. Beat the G1 competitive Montaigne on debut (heavy track) over 1100m when rolling to the front and never looking threatened. Then went to town and just didn't fire, was a noticeable drifter in betting so may have come to the end of it. Given time to mature and going off his recent hitout at Rosehill 29/3 over 900m, he's returned in superb shape. Can roll to the front/box seat and get his prep off to a flyer.

Ipswich R2 No.1 - PLAN RED
Was first-up for 11 months here over 1200m two weeks ago and he went huge! Got back and absolutely savaged the line late, winner/third were much handier to the leaders in running so his effort carries plenty of merit. Only went into that off the back of one soft trial so you'd definitely assume he'll improve lengths for the run. Can take closer order from the favourable draw, if he has room to wind up from the 600m he'll just win.
Plan Red - 1pt @ 3.80
Ipswich R8 No.6 - HANWRITTEN
Was a dominant winner second-up/to 1200m after a good showing fresh over the flying 900m. Rolled to the front, controlled things and booted clear to score comfortably. This is a horse who beat Group-winner Ball Of Muscle on debut 2 & a half years before having some major issues. He has enormous talent and you'd only think will continue to get better with racing after such a long layoff. Third-up he'll be progressing again, and winning.
