Tom Gilmore's best bets for Ballarat this Tuesday, April 26th.
Ballarat R2 No.3 - AVENUE WHISPER
Was a highly rated before debuting in November last year, did plenty wrong on that occasion at Sale and was only beaten by a smart one. Now with D.Weir stable (horses on debut for stable traditionally fly!) and she's had time to physically mature. Expect her to be pretty handy to the speed early and with even luck suspect she'll be very hard to beat. Was a very good form race her second-up effort last year at Moonee Valley, a repeat rating has her on top!

Avenue Whisper - 1pt @ 2.40
Ballarat R5 No.10 - FLAMINGO FLAME
She was excellent fresh at Pakenham two weeks ago over the 1000m, made terrific ground but just found two better on the day. Winner has gone on to run well in $80,000 race at Flemington and runner-up was a recent winner at Caulfield (form lines standing up!). She's a noted improver second-up and she gets in well at the weights. Finished 0.5 lengths off G1-competitive Malaguerra in August last year, an effort along those lines has her winning today.
Flamingo Flame - 1pt @ 6.50
Ballarat R6 No.5 - TAVI BAY
Pretty progressive filly this and the way she returned two weeks ago over the 1400m suggest she's in very good nick. Was an improver/winner second-up at a mile in her debut campaign and I think she's a better horse this time in and can do the same. Gets the right run on the map box-seating and shouldn't have many excuses. Stable thought enough of her to have a crack at Stakes company at Flemington last time in.
Tavi Bay - 1pt @ 4.40
