Geelong R1 No.13 - THE BIG LE BOOMSKI

Thought this filly was ok when a month between runs at at Pakenham over the 1000m, positioned up awkwardly midfield and was just no match for a smart one on debut who went on to run well in better company recently. Back onto the turf a major positive in my book and third-up she should be close to her top. Will be positive from the draw and very hard to beat.

Geelong R3 No.5 - ROSTOCK (x2 NAP)

Thought he was good when returning as a short priced fav at Sale two weeks ago, got back off a muddling tempo and made good ground but it just wasn't enough. Fancy he's certainly looking for a trip so no concern second-up/1500m. Has been proven to be a real improver stepping up in distance in previous campaigns and he meets an average group this afternoon. Can't see him getting beaten.

Geelong R6 No.10 - GERVAIS

Been good in two runs since returning from a spell towards the end of march over 1200m when only going down a length, then went to Cranbourne again over the 1200m and made terrific ground against the pattern to finish on the heels of Tan Tat Charger (since run well $80,000 Saturday race). Pedigree suggests he'll relish the progression to 1500m and he does appear to get the speed on paper to come over the top.
Gervais - 1pt @ 4.60

Sunshine Coast R1 No.1 - BOYS FROM THE BUSH

Quite amazing he hasn't won his maiden as of yet, been competitive with some nice horse late through last year but seemed to find one better on each occasion. Looks like he's come back a better horse, his trial 12/4 certainly indicated he's returned in good order and he has proven himself on a soft track in the past. Can find the front crossing from the wide draw and will be hard to run down.
Boys From The Bush - 1pt @ 2.15

Swan Hill R1 No.4 - SPIRIT OF DEKAY

Thought his debut over the 1100m at Wangaratta recently was quite impressive, worked to find the lead and stuck on gamely with fitness telling late. Leaders did have a hard time throughout the day so the fact he managed to finish as close as he did adds merit. Drop back in trip wont be an issue and he'll have come on for the day out. Fancy he'll take plenty of running down if he can find the fence/lead.
Spirit of Dekay - 1pt @ 3.60

Swan Hill R6 No.10 - MARY'S DISCRETION

She's been racing well this mare of late but has managed to run into one better, this is as poor a race as she's been in and should have a break on key rivals from a speed-map perspective. Will roll forward from that wide alley and may even slot into the one/one if she cant lead. Form around Street Sharp/Angelic Lass is easily good enough to cover this lot.
