Start the week by backing Tom Gilmore's three selections at Mildura
Mildura R1 No.2
Average race with plenty of plodders, with that in mind this fellas effort over 1900m at Geelong just over a week ago was good. First time at the trip but did stick to the task well and fought on gamely (after being made to work early), he'll take great benefit second-time at the distance and he should be rolling forward making his own luck. Case of I can't really see anything running past him if he gets the right time of it on-speed, should get the job done.
Mildura R2 No.2
Nice horse resuming for the first time since March, has been competitive with some really smart ones in his three career runs to date. Second-up last prep finished within 1.4 lengths of Counter Pulse (on heels of winners G2 Euclase Stakes since) and then was a moral beaten at Sandown when finding all sorts of traffic issues before storming home late to just miss to Lasayette (stable have big wraps). Inside draw means he'll be positive early and should just be too good.
Mildura R6 No.6
Perennial bridesmaid but this looks a great race for him this afternoon. Was 1100m to 1400m second-up at Pakenham in a smart race, just couldn't quite sprint with them and tired a touch in his last 75m. Third-up last prep just missed to a promising Hawkes debutant and did beat home Egypt (Group-competitive since). Back to 1200m a major positive and should get all the favours from barrier 2, box seats and should be saluting today!
