Tom Gilmore's best bets for Swan Hill and Musswellbrook.
Swan Hill R1 No.5 - INDIANA WOLF
Horse looks to have some nice upside after a fairly impressive initial preparation earlier this year, went nicely well on debut over 1170m then should have won when second-up at the 1400m. Form out of these maidens has been quite solid and this today is a very ordinary race. Has been given time to physically/mentally mature and suggest he'll kick off his campaign by winning here.
Indiana Wolf - 1pt @ 2.60
Swan Hill R3 No.7 - SAVANNAH MOON
She is on the right upward-spiral to be winning a race of this nature this mare. Has been good hitting the line in her last two starts at the mile and wasn't far away from Ma Jones (metro-class mare) at Bendigo, she improves to 2000m (closed hard to get within a length of Divan at Pakenham October last year) and maps for the PR from the friendly draw. Fancy she's been set for this.
Savannah Moon - 1pt @ 4.80
Swan Hill R5 No.9 - SEPTAMORE (x2 NAP)
Frustrating galloper but certainly is a much better horse than his record reads, kept finding one better last prep before finally breaking through at Cranbourne. Interesting blinkers come off and he does draw favourably, may look to take a sit stalking the leaders and be strong late? Otherwise he's been a consistent leader to date, made the Stakes-class Spreadeagled work for his win at Sandown when only going down 0.4 lengths! Easily good enough for this.
Septamore - 2pts @ 4.00
Musswellbrook R3 No.5 - SOLAR STORM
Very good run fresh/debut and is probably the horse with the most upside here and as a result I'm putting him on top, his initial outing in a slick Maiden at Scone was much better than what it looked - he copped an inept ride and really should have finished much closer. His closing 400m was actually rather sound and he'll clearly improve to 1280m. Can take closer order from the friendly draw and be very hard to beat.
Solar Storm - 1pt @ 3.50
Musswellbrook R8 No.4 - RED HOT DANE
Returns to the track for the first time since February and i'm keen he strikes a really winnable race. Recent trial at Tamworth 3/6 was good, wasn't knocked about and I do like the seven-day turnaround getting him to the races. Deadset swims through rain-affected ground and was good enough to close with some enormous late splits at Randwick (Highway Race) to just miss when a month between runs back in January. Drawn out/speed looks genuine, he should be every chance late.
Red Hot Dane - 1pt @ 6.50
