Sandown R2 No.1 - TELOPEA

Good mare who was never on the track at Bendigo two weeks ago over the 1300m when winning well, runner-up/third had very soft runs in transit so I reckon the win has plenty of merit. Only rises 0.5kgs at the weights and if anything she's better off at the 1400m. Can get the right run stalking the leaders from gate 3 and the long run in will allow her to wind-up from the 600m. She's in outstanding form.
Telopea - 1pt @ 2.40

Sandown R5 No.6 - CRITICAL RISK

He was enormous winning second-up at Cranbourne on a soft track, came from near on last and just unleashed a lethal final 400m split to come home over the top. Might have now found his groove down under, slight query sticking at the trip but big track/sting out should see him again run well. Might take closer order from the favourable draw, too.
Critical Risk - 1pt @ 4.40

Sandown R7 No.5 - SECRET BLEND (x2 NAP)

Meets a pretty average bunch after savaging the line here two weeks ago when asked to do too much from a mile back, he can take closer order from the friendly marble and just be a bit too slick for this lot. He'll improve getting back onto a firmer surface.
Secret Blend - 2pt @ 2.60

Sandown R8 No.2 - SCAPA COVE (each-way)

He has returned in terrific order this prep, win fresh at Cranbourne was very good against the pattern before being mighty unlucky not to win again at Ballarat. Third-up he's close to his peak and gets in well at the weights after the claim from Bayliss, long run in at Sandown will allow him to really work through his gears and be strong late, just needs to find his way off the fence.
Scapa Cove - 0.5pt e/w @ 8.00

Warwick Farm R2 No.1 - KINGSGUARD

Is a Kiwi making his debut for Team Hawkes, form across the ditch has been excellent, finished 1.3 lengths off G1 winner Xtravagant when last time at 1400m then went to Ellerslie and just missed to Qld Oaks winner Mackintosh! Outstanding references for a race of this nature and his recent trial at Rosehill suggests he's in terrific order. Can win and go onto better things.
Kingsguard - 1pt @ 2.70

Warwick Farm R4 No.5 - GUARD OF HONOUR

Promising horse this, think he is a real class 2yo, went around on debut well fancied back in January of the back of some impressive trials but just failed to fire on a bottomless surface. Given time to mature physically/mentally, and judging off his recent hit-out at Newcastle (16/5 800m) he's returned in superb condition. He'll box seat or even sit leaders girth and be far too good.
Guard of Honour - 1pt @ 1.95
