Tom Gilmore's best bets for Bendigo and Wyong today.
Bendigo R1 No.5 - LILAC WINE
Nice horse who has run well in two genuine metropolitan standard 2yo events, latest was a terrific effort running on against the pattern at Mornington. Winner/runner-up have run to a good level in town again since and this is no harder. Better out to 1100m.
Lilac Wine - 1pt @ 3.00
Bendigo R5 No.2 - FAST AND FREE
Went well second-up, comes out of a very high-rating Saturday race in town at Moonee Valley two weeks ago, managed to chase hard behind a quality racehorse in Onpicalo through the line late (got within 1.75 lengths). He was only second-up there and the effort suggested he was a coming winner. Does swim through heavy going!
Fast and Free - 1pt @ 3.50
Bendigo R6 No.8 - SEPTAMORE (x2 NAP)
Unlucky going super fresh when pulling midrace over the 1200m at Swan Hill, winner Crystal Dreamer is clearly a Saturday-class horse (excuses as 2nd fav at Flemington recently). Think second-up he'll take a power of catching and if anything I like the drop to 1100m (can roll along), no issue soft either! His form around Spreadeagled late last year has stood up.
Septamore - 2pt @ 2.00
Bendigo R7 No.5 - SHARATAN
Comes up a shade of overs under the circumstances, she went very well chasing in Saturday grade at Sandown two weeks ago over the 1000m (late splits sound) and if anything now looks like 1100m will suit. Proven wet-tracker and if she gets a fairly solid clip (tend to run along in these) and pattern allows it, she could be motoring home over the top late.
Sharatan - 1pt @ 6.50
Wyong R2 No.4 - ALLEGHENY
Has started favourite in each of her two outings to date this filly, and hasn't been disgraced by any means. Latest here at Wyong three weeks ago saw her just get collared late by a smart one who went onto start in town. She was a touch unlucky on that occasion so fancy with a fair trip in transit/winkers going on she might be fairly tough to beat. Could even roll to the front from the wide draw!
Allegheny - 1pt @ 3.80
