Race 5 2:40pm 2yo MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400m

BLACK ON GOLD has trialled well in preparation for this, on his debut run he was only 3 lengths off Faraway Town who has form through Capitalist and Yankee Rose. The trial was quite pleasing and he should be hard to beat.

REGENISIS has always looked as if he would need ground and steps out to the 1400m for the first time. Clark has had a sit on him before and I don’t mind the blinkers coming off him here.

DYNASTIC LADY should relish the 1400m being out of a Galileo mare. She gets the blinkers for the first time after what was a disappointing first up run, and with the booking of Avdulla from a good gate I expect her to take a prominent position and be hard to run down.

TUMULTUOUS should enjoy getting out to 1400m. He had three trials in preparation for his debut at Canterbury and the run showed me that he would enjoy getting over ground. He may need further than 1400m but he's a chance nonetheless.

Race 6 3:15pm BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1400m

ZIGGY WILLY back in grade looks dangerous here. He was only 3 lengths off the winner in Saturday grade and we should know his chances come race day with Avonaco and Gamblers Blues both going around on Saturday. He has the big weight to carry, but he is better than this level.

CHOICE LARGA was good at Canterbury last start and was coming off a smart win with a big weight at Wyong. He drops back in grade yet again and after the claim for Jennings, he will be in the finish.

DR SYKES may need further than 1400m this preparation, but it is a good starting point first up. He has trailed well enough twice leading into this first up assignment. He is a winner first up previously and with the claim for Panya he is well in at the weights.

DON’T DOUBT MARLEY has ability, but has become a bit of a bridesmaid through her career. She drops down in grade here after running in some strong city races. If she can find her best, she will be in the finish.

SELECTIONS: No 2 ZIGGY WILLY, No 6 Choice Larga, No 10 Dr Sykes, No 8 Don’t Doubt Marley
Ziggy Willie - 1pt @ 12.00

Race 7 3:50pm CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1200m

QUEEN TARA looks to have come back a better horse this preparation, she had a kill fresh at Canberra in what was the jockeys first ride that day. Angland jumps aboard on this occasion and stretching out to 1200m should be no issue.

ECHO PRINCE has been working towards a win this preparation and looks to have found a winnable race. He will be bang on speed and even with the 59kgs he will be hard to run down.

TORCHBEARER comes through a nice enough race at Canterbury. He drops back from the midweek level and the step up to 1200m should pose no issues. With the drop in grade he is a chance.

STOP SHORT was a good winner at Hawkesbury last start. He has drawn well for his racing style and should sit just off the pace and be in the finish.

SELECTIONS: No 3 QUEEN TARA, No 1 Echo Prince, No 5 Torchbearer, No 4 Stop Short
Queen Tara - 1pt @ 10.00

Race 8 4:25pm BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1600m

PONCHERELLO should have won last start, simple as that. He didn’t have the best of luck or the best of rides. The 2kg claim gets him down to 57 after carrying 61. With even luck he will be winning this.

CINEMA PARADISO was a good winner at this level last start at Gosford. The 2kg claim for Adkins is quite smart as he only has to carry 57.5kgs here. Staying at 1600m should be perfect as he was 1300m up to 1600m last start and he should be in the finish.

MAGIC PANTHER looks set up for a good performance after three runs back form a spell. He is a winner at the track and Costa is very good at placing his horses in races they can win and if there is money for this runner, it would pay to keep him on your side.

PRINCE MEMNON has won his past two in good style. I see no reason as to why he can’t go on with it here. Hutchings won on him last start and the step up to the mile looks as if it will suit him.

SELECTIONS: No 7 PONCHERELLO, No 4 Cinema Paradiso, No 6 Magic Panther, No 10 Prince Memnon
Poncherello - 1pt @ 4.20
