Great week so far for Tom Gilmore, he's got plenty of good bets at Sandown and Warwick Farm today!
Was soft first-up at Swan Hill (needed the run) before fitter/back to 1100m on a bottomless track at Bendigo three weeks ago when ridden a touch colder, extended very well nicely to really run through the line late (gapped them!). Reckon he's close to his top third-up and back to 1200m at this stage of his prep looks ideal. Reckon he'll sit leaders girth throughout and with pattern suiting early in the program, he'll take beating.
Does go really well fresh this fella and his overall record is much better than it looks, went nicely when resuming earlier this year down the Flemington straight (1100m) closing hard behind G1-class colt Supido, that form is enormous for a race like this. Gets in well relative weights thanks to the T.Sadler claim and jumped-out exceptionally at Caulfield in slick time 12/7 over 750m. Fairly average affair and he is the class. Like blinkers off, appeared to settle well in that recent trial.
Two runs since resuming have been very good, she's hit the line on both occasions (against the pattern) and now finds a very suitable race third-up/mile. Like she draws out and there appears to be genuine speed engaged, reckon if she can find a backside into the race (can sit deep) she'll be the one rattling home over the top late. Her latest effort was on a bottomless track, she hasn't gone a yard on soft tracks in the past so big tick getting back on top of the ground.
She went ENORMOUSLY at Caulfield three weeks ago second-up over the 1400m, tracked a really genuine tempo and then was very green when asked to improve. Reckon the ride was fairly questionable, should have easily finished top 3, but nevertheless. Her final 100m when she flattened out was terrific, gave every indication that a mile would suit her down to the ground and a big track like Sandown should give her plenty of time to wind up, like she's drawn out, too!
Tasmanian visitor who didn't appear to go a yard in a slick BM84 at Pakenham on the poly-track a month ago, confident he'll be a big improver getting back onto the turf and like the fact he's drawn wide. Should roll forward in a race that doesn't appear to have mad-speed engaged and if he can get a soft split mid-race, could take plenty of catching late. Getting a good quote to find out.
Warwick Farm R2
He went nicely first-time to 2400m in Saturday grade at Randwick 10 days ago on a bottomless track, was a big betting drifter but defied that to run well. Did plenty of work to find the front on that occasion, never really settled/came back underneath his rider so we see the blinkers off here. Small field/big tick second crack at the trip, they are two very important factors in his favour and he does get a 1kg swing on the winner of that event. On-pacers should be no disadvantage with the rail out +3m.
Warwick Farm R3
Was well backed and ridden fairly aggressively second-up at Wyong over 1200m when it appeared to find the bottom of him (winner looks smart/swooped and runner-up has since won), reckon a return to 1100m and the fact he's been freshened is a winning recipe. Happy to see him go forward again, tempo appears to be muddling at best and pattern will suit. He should be close to his peak physically.
