On the Lakeside Track today. The rail is out 9m the circumference, and the track is in the soft range, but should be good come race day.
Skinny Play: 4,9 – 1,2,3 – 1,2,5 – 3,5
Wide Play: 1,4,7,9 – 1,2,3 – 1,2,5,6 – 2,3,5,11
Race 1 1:00pm The Grand Hotel Frankston Handicap 1200m
FUHRYK is quite well-bred and with the way the Hayes and Dabernig team are going currently it would be foolish to dismiss her.
EVIE MATILDA is quite well bred and must be a watch in debut here coming from the Mick Kent stable. If there is any money for this filly, it should be worth noting.
WHYOUASK was a good winner on debut and there is no reason why she cannot go on with it here.
SELECTIONS: No 1 GRIDELIN, No 4 Fuhryk, No 3 Evie Matilda, No 2 Whyouask
Race 2 1:30pm Catanach's Jewellers Plate 1200m
NATIONAL VELVET is of the same mould but comes from the Corstens yard, who have been having quite a good run at the moment. She gets a good gate for her debut run and should be respected.
FROTHED gets a chance to break through here after numerous attempts. If the unraced lot ahead of her have any chinks in their armour she could well finish over the top of them.
LAKER’S LASS was quite good first up and gets her chance to go on with it and break through here.
SELECTIONS: No 9 KATSWIRI, No 11 National Velvet, No 8 Frothed, No 10 Lakers Lass
Race 3 2:00pm Polytrack Handicap 1200m
MAKATITI broke through for a well-deserved win last start. He is quite well weighted after the claim for Saddler here and should be in the finish.
WELL SIGHTED has been running quite well this preparation and gets a chance to break through here. He drops well in grade and looks as if he will get the race run to suit and should be given a chance.
FABULONH resuming here has to be respected. When we last saw this gelding, he was a dominant winner at Maiden level. He has found Oliver first up, who has a good record when he combines with Scott.
SELECTIONS: No 1 CRYSTAL DREAMER, No 2 Makatiti, No 7 Well Sighted, No 8 Fabulonh
Race 4 2:30pm Schweppes Handicap 1200m
SCHNELLER drops 3kgs off his last start win and although he would want the track to stay in the softer range, he has to be given a chance.
KISS THE STARS has to be forgiven for his last-start run. He is quite well bred for a Japanese horse and his form doesn’t look too bad on paper given the times he ran. He must be considered.
HEZA DUDE was rolled at a short quote in a small field last start. Back on to turf here gives him a chance.
SELECTIONS: No 1 GOOD OFFA, No 5 Schneller, No 8 Kiss The Stars, No 2 Heza Dude
Race 5 3:00pm thebigscreencompany.com.au Handicap 1600m
WINTA CHILLER was really well backed last start in pre post markets and didn’t really run to his best. That there was market support early showed that he was going well and he has to be given another chance here.
AMBER CAVALIER won well last start on the synthetic. He gets in quite well after the claim here for Sweeney, who seems to be riding on the crest of a wave currently.
CHEMISTRY has to be forgiven for her last start run. After the claim here for Merthans she is well in the weights and off her previous form she has a chance.
SELECTIONS: No 9 FORSYTH, No 4 Winta Chiller, No 1 Amber Cavalier, No 7 Chemistry
Race 6 3:30pm Ladbrokes Live Play Handicap 1600m
SYRAHBEEL has grown a leg since finding the synthetic tracks and has to transfer that to the grass. She was dominant last start in her win and she can go on with it here.
GIGGLY drops in grade after a solid performance last start. She wants the track to dry out to show her best. But third up from a spell she should be ready to go.
REBEL REBEL was utterly dominant last start when breaking her maiden status. She may want it to be wetter, but there was a lot to like about that win and she has to be considered.
SELECTIONS: No 2 AVENUE WHISPER, No 1 Syrahbeel, No 3 Giggly, No 5 Rebel Rebel
Race 7 4:00pm Crown Golden Ale Handicap 1400m
TO BE HONEST was good in better grade last start where she jumped well in grade. Before that she had been running quite well in a grade such as this and has her chance here.
SELECTIONS: No 5 Not A Happy Camper, No 6 To Be Honest
Race 8 4:30pm Le Pine Funerals Handicap 1400m
SMASHING DOUBT should be ready to go third up from a spell here after two solid runs. He is out to a distance that suits and Olly jumps aboard and should be considered.
PAKAYA PRINCE was solid last start and was run down late. He will be bang on speed once again and should be hard to run down.
SELECTIONS: No 3 Oscar’s My Mate Pa, No 2 Smashing Doubt, No 11 Pakaya Prince
