Tom's got six tips today including a best bet at Geelong!
Wagga Race One
Like the fit local here in whats a pretty ordinary race on paper, two runs since debuting have been good over the 1000m - he's shown himself to be sharp enough to find the front in the early dash (suits getting to 1200m with no speed on paper) which should hold him in good stead with pattern suiting leaders early. Got within 4 lengths on debut of a horse that went super in recent Highway event at Rosehill (good form for this) and does get the services of quality local hoop, finds the fence from the wide alley and will take catching.
Geelong Race One
Thought his debut at Pakenham on the pro-ride two weeks ago over the 1200m was excellent, jumped well/steadied to find a spot midfield but was quite quickly 6-8 lengths from the leaders and asked for an effort to keep in touch. Managed to pick up and begin to find his way into the race before having a good gawk around in the straight/racing greenly. Really flattened out well in his final 100m though, should be better for the outing and further suited to 1300m. Will be winning and looks one worth following!
Geelong Race Two
Maps to find the front fairly comfortably here from the inside marble and as a result should take a power of beating. Went super fresh here a month ago over the 1100m before just doing too much work at Pakenham. That was a tough day for leaders/pattern suited those with cover so reckon theres merit to the effort. Third-up he finds his peak and should be able to control the tempo mid-race and pinch a break on them upon straightening.
Geelong Race Five
Was a notable drifter in latest outing at Sandown when posted wide throughout, didn't offer a whole lot through the line but that was a very heavy/shifting surface so prepared to forgive. First-up run at Mornington prior to that was excellent, made significant ground from the tail of the field v.pattern, winner of that went on to narrowly miss midweek/metro since. Like the addition of shades and back on top of the ground is favourable. Expect her more forward from the draw early.
Geelong Race Eight
Won when returning at Swan Hill over a month ago before going down narrowly here second-up over the 1200m, race rated ok on that occasion and reckon he may have even raced a touch flat? Like third run in for him here, takes good benefit from that latest hit-out and 1300m won't be an issue. He's proven on the pro-ride and the wide draw suits, he'll push forward looking to take a position and go close. Third-run in last prep he was thereabouts at Stakes level around G1 winner Palentino!
Ipswich Race Five
Rolled to the front from an inside draw here three weeks ago (when a month between runs) and went nicely, just pipped late by another on-speed runner (who's since won again!). That was a fairly soft/giving track and we strike another one of those today which will suit, probably prefer him drawn out too, theres good speed here so it gives J.Byrne the chance to sum things up early. Physically improves for that latest hit-out and can give a sight at a big quote.
