R1 12.22pm Two-Years-Old Handicap 1600m

A very poor standard two-year-old for this time of the year and it is their first go at 1600m.

ROYAL TITHE should almost win by default. She is a good class winner but has had a lot of racing. Nevertheless, with a 3kgs claim, she looks very well placed at the weights against a field of horses who have basically been running at the provincial tracks.

INVINCIBOY has had a few chances but his last start at Doomben was a handy run. He kept whacking away in the straight and the step up to 1600m might be his go.

CLARENDON HOUSE beat older horses in an open maiden at the Sunshine Coast last Sunday. It was a heavy track but she did beat them well. Looks as though the 1600m will also suit her.

GLENBAWN DUCHESS fell in winning a maiden at Toowoomba but she is bred to run a strong 1600m and is well drawn.

OVERLAP was good at his last start when fourth in the same race as INVINCIBOY. It was his fourth start in a race and he will be fit to run the 1600m.

SELECTIONS: NO1 ROYAL TITHE, NO2 INVINCIBOY, NO6 CLARENDON HOUSE, NO10 GLENBAWN DUCHESS.

VALUE RUNNER: NO11 OVERLAP.

R3 1.35pm One Metro Win 1110m

There is a stack of early pace here, which should suit ROYAL OCCASION, whose form in better races has been solid. He gets back in the field and will need some luck in the straight but he can finish very fast.

JUST A BULLET is an honest provincial performer but has shown he is up to city class. He will carry his full top weight but is drawn to be handy most of the way.

DAME DESTINY likes to lead in her races and was very good at her last start win. This might be a bit harder to get to the lead but she has been very consistent this time and should be in the finish.

PRINCE MAYTED has been racing well with no luck of late. He could have won the Kirby Quality at Grafton, which is good enough form for this.

BURLEIGH BULLET has never won first up but he does race well fresh. Drawn the rails here and also has a 3kgs claim. Does look value.

SELECTIONS: NO3 ROYAL OCCASION, NO1 JUST A BULLET, NO4 DAME DESTINY, NO7 PRINCE MAYTED.

VALUE RUNNER: NO10 BURLEIGH BULLET
ROYAL OCCASION - 1pt @ 7.5

R4 12.12pm Tattersall’s Open 1110m

LONDEHERO broke a long winning drought with his last start win at Ipswich in a Class 6. The key seems to be jockey Robbie Fradd, who has been getting the best out of him lately. Drawn barrier two and will get back but with some luck will be very hard to beat.

THE MONSTAR was a good last start winner and is a big strong horse who should handle the 59kgs. He should like Doomben, which is a bit softer than most Queensland tracks. Isn't far off a stakes horse.

STRATURBO is a much-travelled galloper who does like Doomben and won a Listed race two starts back at the track. Has plenty of pace and should drive forward from barrier four.

UPSTART PRIDE is always a hope in these races provided he jumps with the field. He has been on his best behaviour lately and will again be up on the pace, or so the script says.

TREATMELIKEALADY has a bad draw but she is very well-placed here. She does race very well fresh and should be hard to hold out.

SELECTIONS: NO7 LONDEHERO, NO2 THE MONSTAR, NO3 STRATURBO, NO5 UPSTART PRIDE.

VALUE RUNNER: NO9 TREATMELIKEALADY.
LONDEHERO - 1pt @ 6.5

R5 2.52pm Class 3 Plate 1350m

CRUISING SPEED is very promising and her stable thought she could win a stakes race this winter. However, she was injured early on in the carnival and didn't return until last start when an easy restricted class winner. She has an ordinary draw but this start has a long run to the first corner and she has the pace to get cover.

STELLA DI NOTTE is far better than last start would indicate. Down in the weights under Plate conditions and will be a lot fitter here. Expect her to go a lot better this race.

KINGTANTES has a mind of his own. He could easily win this by two lengths or run last. It is a matter of trust and despite the big weight he does look suited against this field. He should get a nice run from the barrier as he does need cover to do his best.

MOTION GRANTED can mix his form but a chance here at his best. Has a 2kgs claim and a good barrier so has to be rated as a hope.

ROCK SPARK has been racing well on the Darling Downs and has a 3kgs claim. Not the worst by a long way.

For those wanting to go wider in the exotics, THE UMBRELLA MAN was good first-up but thought he might need one more run. Nevertheless, a win for him would not shock.

SELECTIONS: NO15 CRUISING SPEED, NO16 STELLA DI NOTTE, NO1 KINGTANTES, NO6 MOTION GRANTED.

VALUE RUNNER: NO10 ROCK SPARK.

R6 3.32pm Benchmark 85 1350m

ANGEL DANCER was very strong at the finish when a winner here two weeks back. The stable has high hopes for her as a stakes winner, so she must be the one to beat here. Has the top jockey and a good barrier.

DIVINE SERVICE has more tricks than a Gold Coast real estate salesman but he does have ability. Missed the start last time and that was the end of that but still raced okay. Can be hard to load in the barriers and has a few other little quirks, but on his day would carry half this field and beat the rest.

GOOD JOB BRO was scratched on Wednesday to run here. His two runs from a spell have been good and he continues to work very well. He should be running home hard.

BINALONG ROAD has a 3kgs claim for in-form Josh Oliver and this race suits. He usually races well in Brisbane but the barrier is no help.

SEA RED looked like being a superstar as a three-year-old. She has never lived up to that but her best wins have been at this track and distance. She can race well fresh, so respect.

SELECTIONS: NO7 ANGEL DANCER, NO2 DIVINE SERVICE, NO6 GOOD JOB BRO, NO1 BINALONG ROAD.

VALUE RUNNER: NO3 SEA RED.
ANGEL DANCER - 1pt @ 4.00

R7 4.12pm Listed Tattersall’s Mile 1600m

The last stakes race of the season and most of these have been going around against each other for months.

AKAVOROUN was very good last time under 59kgs and for some reason drops to 56kgs here. If anyone can explain the weights in Brisbane they deserve a medal. He does have a bad barrier but should be able to cross and be near the lead.

LAUTERBRUNNEN was good winning the Rockhampton Newmarket and then had very little luck when third at Doomben this distance last time. Deserves another chance here and should be in the finish.

FLAMBOYER won a stakes race last start but has been hammered at the weights. Nevertheless, he should be able to lead here from barrier one. The key will be how much pressure is put on him.

FELTRE was a good winner over 1800m last start. Might be looking for further but this should suit and he has always shown plenty of promise.

STEEL ZIP is by far the best performed horse here and has won at 1600m. He has a big weight which is the main worry but still has claims.

SELECTIONS: NO4 AKAVOROUN, NO8 LAUTERBRUNNEN, NO3 FLAMBOYER, NO7 FELTRE.

VALUE RUNNER: NO1 STEEL ZIP.
AKAVOROUN - 1pt @ 6.00

R8 4.48pm Three-Years-Old Handicap 1200m

This is the last chance for most of these to get some of the QTIS bonus money for three-year-olds. The bonus nearly doubles the first prize so it is why these races are so strong but they do throw up many upsets.

OBERLAND won well first-up and his jockey may have let him go too soon when he hit the lead at the top of the straight but got run down last time. Should be held up with cover until about 250m when he can sprint quickly.

MADOTTI never has any luck with the barriers and again is out relatively wide. She has a 3kgs claim and at her best would win this. Just needs plenty of luck in the straight and also needs to be held up for the run home.

SEQ THE STAR has been racing well on the Darling Downs and has always shown potential. Stable has taken their time bringing her to town.

QUICK KETCH wasn't bad first up and he should be ready to show something now. Has won a few of these three-year-olds so well placed.

DANDY ONE showed plenty earlier in his career and first up here. He has been working okay and might be the value runner.

SELECTIONS: NO6 OBERLAND, NO1 MADOTTI, NO7 SEQ THE STAR, NO3 QUICK KETCH.

VALUE RUNNER: NO10 DANDY ONE.
OBERLAND - 1pt @ 4.00
