Tom Gilmore starts the week with four tips from Swan Hill.
Swan Hill M2
He's had plenty of chances to break his duck of late but think he strikes a perfect race here this afternoon. Interesting the six weeks between runs off the back of what was a very good effort at Swan Hill over the 1200m when making ground against against the pattern (race dominated by leaders), had a recent/quiet spin around in a trial just to keep things ticking over which was pleasing to see. Like the wide draw and the 3kg claim from T.Hope, reckon they'll be positive early looking to take a spot. Might slide into the one-one and be tough to beat.
Swan Hill R2 No.6 - WINSTON WOLFE - 1pt @ 3.20
Swan Hill R2
Rock-hard fit and maps for the PR of the race, reckon she's been stiff at recent outings, copped a terrible steer latest effort at Murtoa when basically posted three-four wide in transit/improving whilst doing it. Like the jockey change with quality 3kg claimer J.Eaton going on (in beautifully relative weights!) and she'll no doubt give the filly a sweet steer taking the box seat. Blinkers come off in order to get her to settle, if she does, she'll win.
Swan Hill R5 No.10 - MAI THAI - 1pt @ 4.0
Swan Hill R9
Went around at a very short quote on debut here at Swan Hill six weeks ago over the 975m, rolled to the front and looked to be doing it easy enough before 'floating' a touch. Was fairly new to it all but did manage to get the job done (had trialled impressively prior!). Interesting in that he gapped the third horse by 4.5 lengths, who'd previously been within 5 lengths of the Group-class Sebrikka! Think that outing has done him the world of good and a space between runs is of no concern, like these late season 2yo's taking on the older horses. He maps to roll to the front from the wide draw, should just have too much sustained speed for them here.
Swan Hill R9 No.11 - YULONG YONGXING - 1pt @ 3.5
Swan Hill R10
Nice filly, thought she went ok when ridden a touch upside-down at Moonee Valley on a bog track 12 days ago - that was 1000m which didn't suit either so her effort to get within 3 lengths has merit. Like the return to 1200m and the wide draw will suit her, expect them to be positive early. Run prior to Valley start at Mornington was excellent on-speed, winner of that has since gone on to just miss in $80,000 race at Flemington. She's a nice midweek filly.
Swan Hill R10 N.10 - GLENN ROAD (NAP) - 2pt @ 4.0
