Geelong R2 No.14 - MISSILE BOOM
Return to the racetrack was very, very good at Pakenham 12 days ago over the 1200m, he bombed the start and then was clicked up to find a position in running, he proceeded to over-race/pull himself into the ground which did him no favours, with that in mind he made significant ground late in a race dominated by the leader (who's smart!) and we've since seen the 5th horse (beaten 6.5 lengths) come out and win yesterday. It rated well and this horse has good upside, don't mind his drawn out and extra 100m a big tick!

Geelong R3 No.14 - ODEON
Copped one of the worst rides you'll ever see 11 days ago at Flemington over the 1400m, jumped well, was hustled to take a position and then was inexplicably snagged back looking for cover. He then over-raced terribly before the jock again fell asleep as the back markers went around him. Horse was a total forgive. Like him here getting out to the 1700m, he's always looked like a type that'll get ground and with the wide draw think he'll find plenty of clear galloping room and be a bit too good.
Odeon - 1pt @ 2.35
Geelong R4 No.4 - UNCANNY EFFORT
Beat home the Saturday/metro class Downhearted at latest outing August 5th at Pakenham over the 1400m, he was six weeks between runs on the occasion and still managed to overcome a slow start/being posted throughout to run through the line exceptionally and have the better of a good one. They gapped third which is always a good sign and if he handles the return to the turf he'll be too good.
Uncanny Effort - 1pt @ 3.20
Geelong R6 No.5 - WINSTON LEGACY
Not convinced he's at his best on the pro-ride so his effort to make ground at his latest outing at Pakenham (in a race the leader dominated) was very good, run prior on rain-affected going at Sale he was forced to circle the field but was just unable to catch the leader on that occasion. Think he's been crying out for a step-up in trip which he gets today, usually would be keen to see a base run/fitness builder over 2000m, but think he's had the work put into him. Pattern will suit those off the fence so no issue out wide.
Winston Legacy - 1pt @ 4.80
Geelong R7 No.10 - LOST COMMAND
Really promising mare returning to the racetrack for the first-time since April, that was a very slick win at Ballarat over 1200m. It was a 4.5 length margin back to Day Of Rest in 2nd place, that horse then went on to beat a smart lot at Sale, before heading to South Australia and having the better of Justa Hint (genuine Saturday performer since!). 3rd horse, Kaptan Apollo, who was 5.25 lengths off our girl came out and won his maiden at his next start before going on to run a bottler in a $80,000 race in town. They're some incredibly strong formlines and despite the fact we haven't seen her trial, keen she might just be better than these.
Lost Command - 1pt @ 4.60
Canterbury R1 No.6 - MOQUEEN
Liked her return fresh at Warwick Farm two weeks ago over the 1100m, it was a bottomless track on that occasion and think that fact she'd only had the one soft trial leading in told late. She did sprint well with them upon straightening but wasn't able to sustain it. Takes very good benefit physically and second-up first prep she did get within a length of them at G2 level. Can sit handier in the small field and win.
Moqueen - 1pt @ 4.50
Canterbury R3 No.6 - CISMONTANE
Had no favours when winning gamely fresh at Kembla Grange two weeks ago over a mile, that was his first-trip to the races in 12 months so you'd have to think he'll take plenty of benefit physically and if anything further suited out the the 1900m. Think he maps for the PR of the race box-seating and does look a fairly promising type on the up v. plenty of proven plodders. He'll measure up to Saturday grade in time and can win again here!
