Warrnambool R1 No.3 - BRYAN

Went really nicely on debut at Warracknabeal over the 1000m on what was a complete bottomless track, was run off his legs early but really like the way he knuckled down late and ran through the line. Winner Hot Hansel (nice enough horse) had jumped-out super prior to that win so don't reckon theres a knock there, he'll take good benefit for the debut and better suited to 1100m. Should get the PR of the race from gate 3 and we know he gets through testing surfaces!

Best Bet: Warrnambool R2 No.3 - HAY BALE

Can rate right down on recent efforts and win this (always a good sign). Latest effort at Cranbourne two weeks ago over the 1000m was excellent when they went mad on-speed early, he was there to be picked off late and was done so by a fairly smart colt in Gunn Island (he'll measure up in better races). He clearly gets through the going and has good early speed so inside marble shouldn't be a worry.

Next Best: Warrnambool R8 No.7 - ROBBIE'S STAR

Went well at latest outing at Sandown when progressing to 1800m but he just didn't finish the race off with his customery turn of foot, its now the 5th failure he's had on a track rated good (yet to win) so back onto a surface where he can get his toe into the ground is clearly a major tick. If anything back to 1700m won't hurt and D.Lane returns to ride. His 6 length romp at Bendigo over a mile on a bog track rates well enough to win this.

Roughie: Mackay R3 No.1 - RESET EXPRESS

Thought he actually held his ground well when he had every right to fade fresh at Rockhampton two weeks ago over the 1300m, he looked like a horse that needed the run (easy in betting) but also gave the impression he'd physically improve and with the right run in the race take beating. Should get the PR of the race and like they stick with him at the trip. Gets in well at the weights thanks to the 1.5kg claim from C.Jokic.

Warrnambool R4 No.1 - PRIOR ENGAGEMENT

On debut/first-up for D.Weir. Form earlier this year really was quite good in quality company, managed to progress to G2 grade over 1800m at Caulfield and actually acquit himself well (crossed the line with metro winners since). Slight query the bog track but if he's going any good at all, he'll get the job done. Could be worth following as he steps up in trip/grade, too.
