R1 12.17pm Pure Jali Organics QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap 1400m

SOCIAL VAMPIRE led and looked home last start until being run down in the final 50m. She is back from 1600m to 1400m here. She is also a perfect example of being careful early in the day at Eagle Farm as she has drawn barrier (12) which might actually be a help. But if the inside is a help at any stage it will be race one.

I REMEMBER YOU was a very good third last week and should be suited at 1400m. Her trainer was furious when she was made to stand in the barriers for five minutes while another runner was re-plated last week. Naturally she was sluggish early and the jockey felt she should nearly have won.

GENERAL COS has had a lot of racing but seems to be getting better each time. He was on the inferior part of the track when third at Eagle Farm last start. He has a three kilo claim so does look nicely paced here.

HEARTS HONOUR was first-up when fourth and just tired in the final 100m at the Sunshine Coast last start. He will be a lot fitter and has won second-up.

TED is an interesting runner having his first start at 1400m. He is bred to stay but was a handy trial winner at the Sunshine Coast.

SELECTIONS: NO4 SOCIAL VAMPIRE, NO5 I REMEMBER YOU, NO11 GENERAL COS, NO1 HEARTS HONOUR.
VALUE RUNNER: NO9 TED.

DENONINATOR looked home last start but was on the inside at Eagle Farm and got bogged down last 50m before losing by a pimple. He is paying for being so consistent at the weights but does have a claim and looks very hard to beat.

ANTON EN AVANT loves the new Eagle Farm and has won both his starts on the surface over this distance. He is also getting up in the weights but has a 2kgs claim here. He does look hard to beat again.

SAN TELMO showed very good staying form in Sydney and has been racing well this area. He does handle the Eagle Farm track and provided he can step up quickly to 2200m he should be in the finish.

ANNAMAN has had his share of chances lately but he is very fit and does handle all types of track.

ROGALI will be very big odds but he is not without a hope. He was left flatfooted last start at the 600m when the pace picked up but he did get home well. Ridden more aggressively could be the key to him.

SELECTIONS: NO2 DENONINATOR, NO1 ANTON EN AVANT, NO3 SAN TELMO, NO5 ANNAMAN.
VALUE RUNNER: NO9 ROGALI.

FIRE WITHIN is overdue for another win. He does handle the new Eagle Farm well and hasn't had a lot of luck in his past two minor placings at the track. We don't know if barrier (2) will be much help but with luck can be in the finish.

IGNEOUS has won this track in soft going and he did run on well last start when fourth here. Could he be the horse to give Group One winning jockey Larry Cassidy his first win back from a long injury lay-off?

SECRET PUZZLE has been racing very well at the Sunshine Coast. She has a very good record at 1400m and is down in the weights here.

UMGENI has been racing well without much luck of late and did hit the line hard last start. He has paid for his consistent form with big weights but has a claim here.

LE CHEF won the 2015 Magic Millions Two Year Old Classic but has struggled since. Last start was much better and if anywhere near his best would be hard to beat. His Millions winning jockey in Luke Tarrant is back on him here.

SELECTIONS: NO5 FIRE WITHIN, NO8 IGNEOUS, NO13 SECRET PUZZLE, NO1 UMGENI.
VALUE RUNNER: NO3 LE CHEF.

LEGENDARY LUKE strolled up to win by lengths at the 250m and then stopped when sixth at Eagle Farm last start. We will find out on Saturday whether he hates the track or was one run short. He is a class runner in this field and deserves another chance.

MAGNUS COR is a most promising horse who gets back and then charges home late in his races. He has never been on this track and that is the main worry. But on potential looks very hard to beat.

MONSTER OF ENERGY would probably run a place in the Melbourne Cup as his statistics read three wins and thirteen minor placings. But he is always an each-way chance in these races.

ARENA SALON has been racing well on the provincial circuit and should handle this track (famous last words). He has a very good record at 1400m and there should be early pace which will suit him.

BAYVIEW EMPEROR was only fair last start at Doomben but has raced well in Sydney on occasions and doesn't appear harshly weighted. Looks a good value hope.

SELECTIONS: NO5 LEGENDARY LUKE, NO8 MAGNUS COR, NO4 MONSTER OF ENERGY, NO2 ARENA SALON
VALUE RUNNER: NO11 BAYVIEW EMPEROR.

R5 2.43pm St Margaret’s P&F Association Class 3 Plate 1000m

If form means anything THE VIRGINIAN (Best Bet) should win by about twelve lengths. At his last start he was third in the Group One Stradbroke Hcp behind Under the Louvre and Black Heart Bart who won the Memsie Stakes in Melbourne last Saturday. THE VIRGINIAN has won a trial and worked very well on Tuesday morning. The only worry is the outside barrier and Eagle Farm. But the barrier might actually be a big help by race five. What more can we say. We usually wouldn't make him the best bet but bookies have a reputation for taking on good things in Brisbane (just look at Hidden Pearl two starts back) so we might actually get some sort of decent price about him.

DYLAN'S LUCK was extremely unlucky his last start when caught on the fence with nowhere to go. In a normal race he would be the top pick by a long way.

SHAMFRANCISCO goes very fast and followed a good Sunshine Coast trial win with a strong second at Doomben last week. However, she looks to be running for minor prize money here.

SO MIRAGGIO is unbeaten in both his starts and has plenty of potential.

GO GET SUM has been very consistent of late and is not without some hopes here at big odds.

SELECTIONS: NO7 THE VIRGINIAN, NO2 DYLAN'S LUCK, NO10 SHAM FRANCISCO, NO6 SO MIRAGGIO.
VALUE RUNNER: NO3 GO GET SUM.

A case of whose turn is it this week with the field full of old open company sprinters.

EL SASSO is from the powerful Snowden Sydney stable who have a lot of luck in Brisbane. The big question is how he will handle the Eagle Farm track but on best southern form looks a top hope.

KUDERO looked like he could do with a haircut when a good first up fourth. On his day he is smart and should be a lot fitter for first-up effort and especially if his winter coat has come through.

DREAM CHOICE has been racing very well and was a good winner this track last start. He is starting to get right up in the weights but still winning form at this track should always be considered.

SALUTER is a class act on his day but he really needs the right conditions - not too wet. Can roll along in the lead and with a three kilos claim could win without shocking.

PROFILER had good northern rivers form before failing badly in Sydney. He is capable of an upset first-up at big odds here but does need a dry track.

SELECTIONS: NO4 EL SASSO, NO7 KUDERO, NO2 DREAM CHOICE, NO1 SALUTER.
VALUE RUNNER: NO11 PROFILER.

MR EPIC (Next Best Bet) has been one of the most consistent horses in Australia of late. He is stepping into open company here but a few of these are well past their best. He does look one of the better bets of the day as he is down in the weights.

TERONADO hasn't won in two years but he has raced well this new track on all four occasions he has been here. He is well and truly overdue for a win and was Group One placed as a three-year-old. This is his chance to win again.

ALPHA BEAT needs the sting out of the track to do his best. He won in stakes company in the south early in his career and it was a good pointer last start when fifth this track. He is ready to win again.

DESERT GENERAL has been racing well in restricted company without winning. He is down on the minimum weight in this open company race and that may be the key to him. He should be able to sit just off the pace.

SPURTONIC is getting out to 1600m and he was once fourth in an Epsom Hcp. Those days are well past him but a soft track and an even softer lead might see him improve sharply.

SELECTIONS: NO8 MR EPIC, NO3 TERONADO, NO7 ALPHA BEAT, NO10 DESERT GENERAL.
VALUE RUNNER: NO2 SPURTONIC.

A very hard race but at least IRISH CONSTABULARY is honest. Chased home top mare Hidden Pearl at his last start and has not really run a bad race since coming here from Victoria. He has plenty of weight but then again he is better than most of these.

ZIGGIE WILLIE has some handy NSW form and he was a good third at this track in his last start. This is a bit harder but he looks to have a strong each-way chance.

MR JETSET stormed home when fourth last start in an unsuitable 1000m race. He will need a fast pace but should get that.

REVALDOR has missed a couple of starts recently by being an emergency but his two runs this time have been good. He will just need a bit of luck early after again drawing badly.

BIG DECISION (Best Roughie) has a fairly poor win strike rate. However, he did trial well before his first-up fifth this track when battled away okay. He is usually value odds and should be respected. His stable has been on fire this month and it might just be his turn.

SELECTIONS: NO2 IRISH CONSTABULARY, NO4 ZIGGIE WILLIE, NO11 MR JETSET, NO16 REVALDOR.
VALUE RUNNER: NO8 BIG DECISION.
