R1 1.05pm MCGRATH ESTATE AGENTS HANDICAP 1600m

HIGH MIST (BEST BET) should have just about won the G3 Ming Dynasty at Randwick last start after being held-up at a vital time. From barrier (1) with Hugh Bowman on board, this three-year-old colt trained by Chris Waller is definitely the one to beat.

VELADERO resumed with a strong maiden win over 1400m at Hawkesbury. Looks more than capable of handling the step up to midweek city grade and gets a soft run from the inside gate.

BRIDLE LANE scored a tough win at first 1600m winning a maiden at Goulburn last start. That proven ability over the trip will carry her a long way here.

UBATUBA did a good job to win his maiden at Wyong. Quick jump to the mile but still plenty of scope for improvement.

SELECTIONS: No1 HIGH MIST, No3 Veladero, No2 Ubatuba, No4 Bridle Lane
VALUE RUNNER: No4 Bridle Lane
High Mist - 1pt @ 1.55

CROSS STITCH hit the line strongly when placed at Kembla on debut. All the better for the experience and looks right up to midweek city grade.

MILITARY MACHINE impressed when runner-up at Canterbury when resuming two runs back, then didn't finish the race off when ridden further forward at Wyong. Expect him to be ridden quieter here and right in the mix.

DRACHENFELS runner-up both runs to date. Ready to win stepping up in distance from an ideal gate.

SHOW 'EM unlucky at Kembla on debut before being slow away at Wyong last start when never really in the race. Just needs an even getaway to be a threat here.

KANJI relished the step up in distance to win the Wyong Cup last start. He has to shoulder the 61kg but he’s significantly back in grade.

STANDOUBT is chasing back-to-back victories after a Canberra win last start. Harder here, but at least a place chance with James McDonald in the saddle.

ANYTIME BABY (ROUGHIE) won successive races at Bathurst and Newcastle Beaumont before finishing down the track at Hawkesbury last start. Makes her own luck on speed and can run a race if left alone in front.

MARGARITA RUSH was a runner-up here two runs back and had plenty on a benchmark 55 field at Nowra last start. Needs a wet track but would be right in the mix if conditions suit.

SELECTIONS: No1 KANJI, No3 Standoubt, No5 Anytime Baby, No7 Margarita Rush
VALUE RUNNER: No5 Anytime Baby.
Kanji - 1pt @ 10.00

R6 4.05pm #THERACES HANDICAP 1000m

ARISE AUGUSTUS resumes from a 67-day let-up. Ultra-consistent before the break, including successive wins at Canterbury and Randwick. In with a winnable weight after the claim and right in the mix.

HOT HIT resumes without a trial but placed all three runs last preparation including placings at Canterbury and Randwick. Fresh form is good enough to play a part here.

MISS LIFFEY is a promising filly with an excellent record at this trip. Didn't run the journey out at Moruya last start. Right up to a midweek race in town over the short course.

AEGEAN SEA resumes and has trialled well on two occasions leading into this. Placed at Hawkesbury resuming last time in and definite place prospects fresh here.

FANTASIZE hasn't had much luck last couple, finishing on the placegetters’ heels on both occasions. Should be right at her peak and ready to win.

CHLOE'S COMET has won two of last four and placed here last start. Makes her own luck on speed and expected to be right in the finish again from an ideal gate.

COUNTESS MARINOV has had a change of stables. Placed at Sandown last start and overall Melbourne form looks solid enough for a race like this.

KATSWIRI placed at Sandown on debut before winning a maiden at Geelong on the synthetic surface. Have to respect the Hawkes stable’s decision to head to Sydney.

SELECTIONS: No1 FANTASIZE, No3 Chloe’s Comet, No6 Countess Marinov, No5 Katswiri
VALUE RUNNER: No7 Reiby Rampart
Fantasize - 1pt @ 9.00

CHOICE WE HAD (NEXT BEST BET) had 565 days off racing, but was still able to return a winner when first-up at Gosford. The five-year-old gelding put in a strong performance second-up to finish third. Although drawn wide, if Blake Shinn gets some early luck, he can win again.
