If you're looking for a race-day miracle, check out the gambling gods!
Hermes is the ancient Greek god of profit and gaming. His old man is Zeus, who definitely carries some weight as the supreme ruler of the universe and king of the gods. Hermes has a solid track record of helping out a brother in need and apparently gifted a man, called Jules Keen, the ability to never lose a bet. Would sure love him to repeat the feat.
The gambling god of the Navajo, Nohoilpi reportedly introduced the various Native American tribes to the punt, but then took advantage of his power by beating them all at his games of chance. He collected his winnings by enslaving people to build a city to mark his glory. So basically your ancient day Las Vegas, which makes Nohoilpi my second pick.
Thoth is the Egyptian god of gambling and loves his craps. According to myth, he put five extra days on the calendar by gambling with the moon in a game of dice to help the sky goddess, Nut to have her children. While that's certainly impressive, Thoth doesn't strike me as a god who listens to your everyday punter who's backing a roughie home at Randwick.
Li-Nezha is the Chinese god of tricks and gambling. He's reportedly the only one of the Chinese Gods that can reveal the winning numbers in a lottery and in ancient times was worshipped as a God of Lotteries. Next time there's a billion dollar Powerball draw, I reckon it may be worthwhile giving Li-Nezha a shout-out.
Macuilxochitl is the Aztec god of gambling, dancing, football and all round good times. To be honest, I can't pronounce this god's name but thankfully they also called him Xochipilli, which is much easier to say. Importantly, Macuilxochitl has the power to send anyone an STD if they get on the wrong side of him. That makes him hands down my favourite of the lot.
Lakshmi is the Hindu goddess of wealth, prosperity and fortune. It's believed that anybody who prays to her sincerely, and not in greed, will be blessed with success, which immediately rules me out. However, after worshipping Lakshmi, many Hindus will gamble and spend profusely, believing she has bestowed good fortune upon them.
