R1 12.22pm BRC SPRING CARNIVAL QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD FILLIES MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200m

It wouldn't surprise to see WRONG BIAS run an improved race. She was well beaten first-up but that was on a wet track and she simply didn't handle it. Trainer Chris Munce has given her a let-up and she returns in this race from the rails alley with leading jockey Jeff Lloyd to ride. All the ingredients are there to suggest she'll run a much better race.

FATAL RENDEZVOUS is racing consistently this campaign and is in rock solid condition. She's drawn perfectly and should get the run of the race with champion jockey Damian Browne aboard.

SORNJA chased home a couple of smart types last start at the Sunshine Coast. That was her first run and she's certain to derive plenty of benefit from that experience.

VITAL LOVE showed pace and held on gamely behind a smart filly at her only outing at Doomben. She has the tactical speed to take advantage of her ideal alley and apprentice Sairyn Fawke's claim brings her in under the minimum weight.

SELECTIONS: NO 10 WRONG BIAS, NO 3 FATAL RENDEZVOUS, NO 6 SORNJA, NO 1 VITAL LOVE.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 10 WRONG BIAS.
WRONG BIAS - 1pt @ 5.50

R2 12.57pm VEUVE SOCIETY QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD COLTS AND GELDINGS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200m

If class counts for anything then CHARNLEY RIVER (Next Best Bet) should be winning this. He was runner-up to Sacred Elixir, one of the favourites for the Caulfield Guineas, in the Group One JJ Atkins at this track during the winter carnival. He's drawn the outside alley for his comeback but if he brings his A-game he should be far too good for these.

SELECTIONS: NO 1 CHARNLEY RIVER, NO 9 FRENCH DESCENT, NO 4 VALKNUT, NO 8 MAD MAGIC.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 9 FRENCH DESCENT.
CHARNLEY RIVER - 1pt @ 0.00

R3 1.37pm SKY THOROUGHBRED CENTRAL FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000m

A difficult race to assess with a number of first starters and other runners resuming for new stables. The market moves will be all-important.

REMLAPS JOY proved a disappointment in NSW but resumes here for astute trainer David Vandyke following an easy win in a Sunshine Coast barrier trial and with the rails alley in her favour. If there's any money for this mare it will be worth following the lead.

RAINY DAY WOMAN is having her first start for trainer Chris Anderson but has raced well in strong city Saturday grade so she looks well-placed against this field.

TURQUOISE is a first starter but looked in good shape in a recent Deagon barrier trial and is from the stable of leading trainer Tony Gollan.

ZOUZOUKAKIA is making good progress this campaign and is drawn perfectly. She'll be hard to hold out if she's within striking range on the corner.

SELECTIONS: NO 9 REMLAPS JOY, NO 3 RAINY DAY WOMAN, NO 10 TURQUOISE, NO 1 ZOUZOUKAKIA.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 1 ZOUZOUKAKIA.
REMLAPS JOY - 1pt @ 3.30

R4 2.12pm GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000m

IL RICCIO (Best Bet) created a huge impression in one barrier trial at Deagon in April when he showed dazzling pace and attacked the line with gusto to win by more than eight lengths. If he turns up in that sort of form, then the race is over. He's drawn the rail and should be able to use that to great advantage and outpace his rivals.

SELECTIONS: NO 8 IL RICCIO, NO 3 STRIVE TO SUCCEED, NO 11 THE EXHIBITIONIST, NO 10 PARK CHINOIS.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 10 PARK CHINOIS.
IL RICCIO - 1pt @ 1.85

R5 2.47pm HAMILTON HOTEL CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1000m

SO MIRAGGIO suffered his first defeat last start but he was far from disgraced. On that occasion he was never in the right spot and didn't look entirely comfortable on the wet track. He's drawn the rails and should strike a firmer surface this time. Look for the bounce back factor with him.

ZERO TOLERANCE is racing consistently and the form around her is sensational. When she won first up she defeated Shamfrancisco and Fleur D'Orage who have both won subsequently.

FOUR EXCEL led all the way to win at the Gold Coast last time and is bound to give another great sight. He's drawn a bit awkwardly but is going too well to ignore.

DRAM OF RED is returning after a bleeding ban but has a touch of class and at his best he's up to black type company. If there's any money for him it could pay to follow.

SELECTIONS: NO 3 SO MIRAGGIO, NO 5 ZERO TOLERANCE, NO 4 FOUR EXCEL, NO 1 DRAM OF RED.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 4 FOUR EXCEL.
SO MIRAGGIO - 1pt @ 5.00

R6 3.27pm RACEZONE COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200m

JOHNNY BE QUICK ran sixth first-up from a spell at Toowoomba but with an ounce of luck he arguably should've won. For the entire length of the straight he was desperately looking for clear galloping room but, alas, it never eventuated. Anyone who saw the run will be keen to back him.

LAREBIL didn't fire in a brief campaign during the autumn but he's returned to his original trainer Les Kelly and looked in good shape when runner-up in a Gold Coast barrier trial. He's drawn perfectly and top jockey Larry Cassidy's booking is a sign the stable are keen on his chances.

DAZZLE US AGAIN won from the outside alley at his last run before a spell and has landed a perfect gate for his comeback. He's bound to prove highly competitive.

ROTHBURY is improving with each run this campaign and is cherry ripe for this assignment.

SELECTIONS: NO 1 JOHNNY BE QUICK, NO 9 LAREBIL, NO 2 DAZZLE US AGAIN, NO 3 ROTHBURY.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 9 LAREBIL.
JOHNNY BE QUICK - 1pt @ 3.40

R7 4.10pm CANADIAN CLUB MELBOURNE CUP DAY FILLIES AND MARES CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200m

Blinkers worked wonders last time for LE JEU. She might've been flattered by the wet track but she stamped herself as above average that day and can make the jump to city grade.

OPINIONATED has always had a wrap on her and broke through for an overdue win at the Gold Coast last start. She's drawn awkwardly but has the right man in Damian Browne to overcome that obstacle.

DEEP HARBOUR was considered good enough by her trainer Liam Birchley to contest black type races last campaign. She resumes here from a perfect draw and is certain to have plenty of admirers.

SUBSOLAR (Best Roughie) could turn out to be the best mare in the race. She looks a stayer in the making and might find some of these a bit sharp at this stage of her campaign but if she's within striking range on the corner she's capable of finishing over the top of them.

SELECTIONS: NO 7 LE JEU, NO 6 OPINIONATED, NO 9 DEEP HARBOUR, NO 2 SUBSOLAR.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 2 SUBSOLAR.
LE JEU - 1pt @ 7.00

R8 4.50pm CHRISTMAS FUNCTIONS @ BRC BENCHMARK 75 HANDICAP 1600m

OLD SMOKEY is returning from a let-up but scored impressively at this track two starts back. He had no luck last time out when he was trapped three-deep without cover yet still battled on well at the finish. That was in much stronger company and he looks well-placed here despite landing the outside alley.

ATTITUDINAL MISS scored a dominant win at Ipswich last start and while she's stepping up in grade here she looks well placed after Tiffani Brooker's allowance which will see her carry the featherweight of 51kg.

GO ON RED scored impressively in testing conditions last time at Doomben. He should get a perfect run from his ideal alley with Damian Browne aboard. SAGAMAMA will enjoy the step up to the mile after finishing strongly to finish 2nd at Doomben over 1350m last time out.

SELECTIONS: NO 2 OLD SMOKEY, NO 11 ATTITUDINAL MISS, NO 5 GO ON RED, NO 8 SAGAMAMA.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 11 ATTITUDINAL MISS.
OLD SMOKEY - 1pt @ 9.00
