Race 1 12:40pm ASCEND SALES TROPHIES HANDICAP 1200m
BALTIC WHISPER trialled like a bomb before resuming and getting touched off in a close finish. He played up at the gates and probably should have been a late scratching that day. What should be noted is that he was absolutely off the map and started $1.40 there. With improvement from that run, he should be hard to beat.
LUBITON was just touched off in a close race so the form around her has been quite good. From the wide gate McEvoy should stroll across and dictate terms. If she gets her own way, she will be super hard to run down.
FLASH FIBIAN gets the blinkers back on here, and should get a good run from gate (1) here. The form around him this time in is some of the best in NSW at the moment. The big weight shouldn’t worry him as he carried big weights as a 2yo.
GIBRALTAR GIRL has been quite good in winning her past two at Canterbury. She jumps up in grade here but fillies when they are in form need to be respected.
SELECTIONS: No 6 BALTIC WHISPER, No 4 Lubiton, No 1 Flash Fibian, No 3 Gibraltar Girl.
VALUE RUNNER: No 6 Baltic Whisper.
BALTIC WHISPER - 1pt @ 7.50
Race 2 1:20pm PROMASTER PROTECTION HANDICAP 1400m
DAGNY has been fantastic at winning her two races this preparation. The time is right to step up in grade here and she comes to her home track for the first time this preparation. The step up to 1400m should be no issue at all here.
MARAAM comes back to fillies and mares grade here after a good run behind Metallic Crown last start. Going back through her previous form behind Denpurr and Sort After is good enough for a race such as this.
COTTAGE was a big winner last start at Warwick Farm and O’Shea looks to have found the key to her and that is to keep her fresh. She has had a trial between runs that was good and she should be thereabouts.
RUSTIC MELODY was fantastic when winning fresh last preparation in a Provincial Championships qualifier. Her trials have been serviceable enough leading into this, and if there's some sprint still in her legs she could finish over the top.
SELECTIONS: No 9 DAGNY, No 5 Maraam, No 3 Cottage, No 1 Rustic Melody.
VALUE RUNNER : No 1 Rustic Melody.
DAGNY - 1pt @ 2.60
Race 3 1:55pm TAB HIGHWAY HANDICAP 1100m
THELITTLERACKETEER (BEST ROUGHIE) comes here fresh with no trial, but brings some really good form from the country level at the end of her last preparation. At her last start she was beaten by Greipel over the Wagga carnival, who won the Snake Gully Cup last week. She has a great first-up record and Dale would have her ready for a first-up run here.
OAKFIELD TIME was a dominant maiden winner on Cup day and comes straight to highway level here. He ran a fast time for the 1000m that day and the step up to the 1100m shouldn’t be a worry. After the claim for Adkins, he gets under the minimum here and should be in the finish.
PELERIN has won his last three at country level and comes to town off the back of a good trial at Scone. A smart claim for Magorrian gets him down to 53kgs and he has his chance to win.
MADAM FRAN was just touched off last start in a fast time. From the gate she should be able to take a forward positon and if she can run up to her last few runs she will be in the finish.
SELECTIONS: No 1 THELITTLERACKETEER, No 10 Oakfield Time, No 3 Pelerin, No 2 Madam Fran.
VALUE RUNNER: No 1 Thelittleracketeer.
THELITTLERACKETEER - 1pt @ 7.50
Race 4 2:30pm JAYDUB ELECTRICAL HANDICAP 2000m
ESCHIELE looks well set up for this race off his last start. He was just touched off late in a tight finish and fourth up to 2000m suits perfectly here. He should be rock hard fit for this and after the claim for Heywood he gets well in.
HERNE’S OAK is well weighted after the claim and was quite good behind New Tipperary last start. He is a previous winner at the track and distance. He wants the rain to stay away as he doesn’t go an inch in soft going and that would ruin his chances.
THE BULL looks to roll along in front and be the one they have to run down. He has been in great form this time in, and that defeat to Sweet Redemption looks good after last weekend. If left alone in front he will be hard to run down.
MONTAUK won well last start in a race that looked well set up for him. The form out of that race has been quite good since then. He has a shocking record at his home track, but has improved this preparation.
SELECTIONS: No 4 ESCHIELE, No 1 Herne’s Oak, No 6 The Bull, No 5 Montauk.
VALUE RUNNER: No 1 Herne’s Oak.
ESCHIELE - 1pt @ 6.50
Race 5 3:05pm ABA AUTOMATIC ENTRANCE SPECIALISTS HANDICAP 1100m
SUPREME EFFORT (NEXT BEST BET) has been in fantastic form this preparation, winning his first two before placing in a hot race on Cup Day at Flemington. He was probably on the wrong part of the track that day and should get a good run on the map for Avdulla here. Back to 1100m is no issue as there is enough pace in the race for him to sit off them and finish over the top of them.
SELECTIONS: No 3 SUPREME EFFORT, No 1 Kuro, No 2 Inz‘N’Out, No 7 Painte.
VALUE RUNNER: No 2 Inz'N'Out.
SUPREME EFFORT - 1pt @ 6.00
Race 6 3:40pm NOVEMBER TOPAZ 1900m
FALKENBERG (BEST BET) looks perfectly set up to peak third-up at 1900m here. She was run off her legs first-up before hitting the line powerfully second-up, with Happy Hannah just in front of her. She drops to 54kgs and gets McEvoy here. From barrier (2), she looks to get a perfect run on the map here, and if she gets clear air from the top of the straight she will blow them away.

Race 7 4:20pm TAB NOVEMBER HANDICAP 1400m
DUCA VALENTINOIS looks well set up here with a 6kg weight drop on his first-up run. He hit the line quite well in a race that wasn’t run to suit at all. I would like to see him over a touch further, but the big field should generate some pace for him to get over the top of them.
NINTH LEGION was good in two better races than this at his first two runs this time in. He comes back a long way in grade here, but is penalised by carrying 62kgs here. He has a great 1400m record and even with the weight I am happy to be on his side here.
RELIGIFY should be much better suited to 1400m than he was at the 1550m of Canterbury last start. I don’t think that he ran the journey out, and he was pressured from the get go, as well as standing in the gates for a long period of time. 1400m suits better and he looks to get a cushy run on speed.
SEBRINA should improve second-up and down in the weights here. She hit the line well enough in good time first-up. She should be much fitter for that and after the claim, she is attractively weighted. Couple that with her second-up record and she is a major player here.
SELECTIONS: No 11 DUCA VALENTINOIS, No 1 Ninth Legion, No 5 Religify, No 10 Sebrina.
VALUE RUNNER: No 11 Duca Valentinois
DUCA VALENTINOIS - 1pt @ 8.00
Race 8 5:00pm SCHWEPPES HANDICAP 1400m
LASSITUDE resumes from 20 months out here and has a host of gear changes leading into this. He is freshly gelded and has trialled pleasingly enough. Last time in he was starting favourite over Happy Clapper and we have all seen how that form has turned out since. He could well be a Villiers horse and I’d love to see him hit the line here.
MON PERE gets a good jockey change and will get a good run to suit. The jockey went too hard in front last start and in the past he has been a horse who is better ridden with cover. His run two starts ago behind Morton’s Fork was fantastic and that’s good enough for this.
CHOICE WE HAD looks to get a great run in the map and was unlucky to be beaten last start. I’m starting to think that he is a little bit of a “cheat” and doesn’t like winning. From barrier (1), Angland should hold him up for the last crack at them and “trick” him into winning here.
QUICK DEFENCE is back off a freshen here and should improve given that it is his “second” preparation. He has drawn a good gate for Avdulla, and although he may want it further he should get the expected speed in the race for his benefit.
SELECTIONS: No 2 LASSITUDE, No 8 Mon Pere, No 12 Choice We Had, No 5 Quick Defence.
VALUE RUNNER: No 2 Lassitude.
LASSITUDE - 1pt @ 0.00
Race 9 5:40pm FUGEN HANDICAP 1200m
IN THE VANGUARD gets one last chance here third-up. She hated the tongue tie last start and that comes off and gets the blinkers for the first time. Apprentice off and Avdulla on suits here. The gate (14) is a touch concerning, but if she can get across without spending too much petrol, she should be in the finish.
HEARTLINGS’ first-up last preparation exploded at Warwick Farm and dominated a race over 1400m. She returns from a decent spell here and hasn’t had a trial coming into this. This is the same set up she had last prep and if she still has that zip in her legs she can finish over the top.
SALMANAZAR returns after a good winter campaign in QLD, highlighted by a second in the Daybreak Lover, beating Tsaritsa home. Gollan is starting to load the cannons in an effort to break through in Sydney and has a chance here.
SONIC SWISH was a good winner at Randwick on Cup day and the form out of that race has held up remarkably well. That was his first start with Waller and he can only improve from that. He drops 2kgs for that effort, and the distance shouldn’t worry at all.
SELECTIONS: No 16 IN THE VANGUARD, No 14 Heartlings, No 13 Salmanazar, No 10 Sonic Swish.
VALUE RUNNER: No 14 Heartlings.
IN THE VANGUARD - 1pt @ 0.00
