GAGOSIAN (NEXT BEST BET) can improve with a run under his belt and should be hard to beat here. He gave a strong performance to chase home Zoot Suit Riot over 1200m first-up at Echuca on November 10. He carried 59.5kg that day with the claim of an apprentice and he gets Singapore Cup-winning jockey Craig Williams to ride here. He carries 59kg and is perfectly drawn to gain a soft run in gate (2) and the extra 200m should suit him.
SELECTIONS: No3 GAGOSIAN, No5 Bossy Miss, No6 Comeback, No8 Elzinga.
VALUE RUNNER: No8 Elzinga.

FRANKINCENSE (BEST BET) has been in sparkling form and showed improvement on his first-up second to post an authoritative win over 1300m at Geelong on November 5. He was specked from $7.50 into $5.50 that day when lumping 60kg to a 2 ¾ length win. Daniel Moor’s decision to ride this son of Makfi over the Lee and Anthony Freedman-trained Solid Rod is a solid pointer to this gelding’s chances here. He has a good record of two wins and four placings at 11 starts.

READY RIGHT NOW won first-up over 1600m at Murray Bridge. The Adelaide galloper then ran a solid fifth over 16700m at Morphettville carrying 57kg with the claim of a 3kg apprentice. He gets experienced senior rider Luke Currie here and carries 60.5kg. Looks a good chance in a deep race stepping up to 2200m for the first time.
DESERT SAMURAI is going to be right in the mix off his last-start second over 2400m here on November 9. He was backed from $3.70 into a $2.50 favourite on that occasion and Cory Parish again rides in an open affair here on 60kg. Rock hard.
RACING WRITER finally broke-through for a fighting win over Desert Samurai over 2400m here on November 9. He jumps 2kg to 58.5kg for that effort but Harry Coffey keeps the ride and he is well drawn in gate (2) to gain a soft run. Makes appeal.
MERU (BEST ROUGHIE) finally broke the ice at her 15th start to post a smart win as a $2 favourite over 2238m at Sale on November 15. Rhys McLeod keeps the ride on the Pat Carey-trained mare and she drops 1.5kg to 55kg and has drawn nicely in gate (3).
SELECTIONS: No1 READY RIGHT NOW, No2 Desert Samurai, No5 Racing Writer, No7 Meru.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 Meru.

BIG DUKE is a Northern Hemisphere import racing for the first time as a gelding. He hails from the leading stables of trainer Darren Weir and has No.1 stable rider Brad Rawiller riding him here. The betting could be the key as he does have a good first-up record of two starts for a win and a third.
MANHATTAN BOSS was given a warm up trial over 800m at Cranbourne where he ran seventh of 10 on November 7. Linda Meech rides him here on 59kg and he has an excellent first-up record of three starts for two wins.
KERAUNO was a big drifter from $8 to $17 before running a solid third over 1400m at Pakenham on November 11. He carries 59kg again and is not as well drawn in (11) but has a top rider in Craig Newitt and rates with claims.
GLOBAL ASSAULT was disappointing at his third start when running fifth over 1500m here on November 9. He can be the big improver and has Jackie Beriman again riding on 59.5kg. Looms as a chance.
SELECTIONS: No5 BIG DUKE, No7 Manhattan Boss, No6 Kerauno, No3 Global Assault.
VALUE RUNNER: No3 Global Assault.
