My midweek Champions League tips went well – Manchester United scored over 1.5 Team Goals, and Dinamo Zagreb scraped an away win to Skenderbeu (I had them for Draw No Bet). Despite this, Basel conceding a 95th minute equaliser to Maccabi Tel Aviv means we agonisingly missed out on the clean sweep – here’s hoping we can go one better with this weekend’s tips!

My first tip is Chelsea to win away to West Brom at best odds of 1.67 with William Hill. Despite their stuttering start to the season, it would still represent a major shock were Chelsea to go a third league game without a win, especially with the boost the squad will have gotten from the signing of Barcelona star Pedro. West Brom have been equally as unimpressive in their start to this campaign, level on one point with Chelsea, and having been uninspiring in defeat to Man City and an away draw to Watford.

My other Premier League tip is for Over 2.5 Match Goals in Liverpool v Arsenal. Whilst Liverpool have kept clean sheets in both their league matches so far, their defence is far from steady, and an Arsenal attack should pose them far more problems than both Stoke and Bournemouth have managed so far. Likewise, Arsenal have a tendency to concede goals, with even summer signing Petr Cech looking unsteady in his early Arsenal days. Both teams will fancy their chances of winning this game, and are therefore unlikely to sit back – Arsenal beat Liverpool 4-1 at the Emirates in their league fixture last season, whilst Liverpool will be buoyed by their two league wins so far this season. You can grab Over 2.5 Match Goals at best odds of 1.81 with Marathon Bet.

The Spanish La Liga kicks off this weekend, with the pick of the fixtures pitting newly promoted Sporting Gijon against Real Madrid, who scored an incredible 118 league goals last season, and still finished second in the league. Real Madrid will look to get their campaign off to a strong start and send a warning out to their rivals – and with the likes of Ronaldo, Benzema, Bale, James and Isco, they certainly have the firepower to do so. I’m backing them at a handicap of -1 to overcome Sporting Gijon as I am confident they will win this tie by at least 2 goals. Back Real Madrid -1 at best odds of 1.67 with Coral.

Over in the Bundesliga, Bayern will look to follow up their 5-0 win against Hamburger SV last weekend with another strong victory against Hoffenheim this weekend. With the additions of Arturo Vidal and Douglas Costa, Bayern look like an imperious force once again – although they have been imperious domestically for years now, winning the Bundesliga by at least 10 points three seasons in a row. They tend to dominate play and gain an early stranglehold on domestic matches, which is why I’m backing them to have a half-time lead against Hoffenheim, who succumbed to a 2-1 defeat last weekend, at odds of 1.71 with 10Bet.

Finally, I fancy Juventus to win at home against Udinese in the return of the Italian Serie A this weekend, and both teams not to score (essentially the same as Juventus to win to nil) at best odds of 2.00 with Paddy Power. Incredibly, the last time Udinese managed to score a goal against Juventus was in September 2012, having failed to register a single goal against the Old Lady in 5 matches since then. Juventus conceded just 11 goals in 19 home league matches last season, and only failed to win 3 of these 19 home matches – I’m backing them to win at home again, and not to concede.

Put Rory's five selections in an acca and it pays a huge 15.32/1 (as short as 4.79/1 elsewhere!)
