After European football made an entertaining return this week (well, unless you’re a Man City, Arsenal or Man Utd fan), the entertainment promises to continue this weekend with some entertaining ties around Europe. With teams now having played a decent enough number of games this season to gage their form, in terms of winning and goalscoring, the tips should now become a bit easier to produce – here’s hoping anyway!

I’ll start off with football in my own backyard – something of a speciality for me (touch wood). Ross County face Partick Thistle at home and are in great form, with just one narrow defeat in their last 5 games. Opponents Partick Thistle have lost their last 4 games in a row, and are rooted to the bottom of the table. I’m backing Ross County, Draw No Bet at odds of 1.47 with Boylesports.

Perhaps the biggest game of the weekend sees Arsenal and Chelsea face off, with both teams having had a worse start to the season than they would have anticipated. Whilst Chelsea returned to winning ways with what was an emphatic Champions League victory in midweek, Arsenal sunk to an away defeat to Dynamo Zagreb. Despite having only suffered one league defeat this season, Arsenal have typically struggled playing at Stamford Bridge, and this is a trend I can see continuing; however, much safer than predicting the match result in this game is predicting both teams to score – both teams have had weaknesses in defence this season, and both have enough firepower to trouble the opposition. Grab Both Teams To Score at great odds of 1.70 with Betfair.

Real Madrid take on Granada this season roundly expected to knock in a good number of goals against their opposition, having 15 goals without reply in their last 3 games. This game will have goals, and it doesn’t take a genius to envisage that they will be for the home team. Back Over 2.5 Real Madrid team goals at odds of 1.33. I’m also backing Rangers to score this weekend, another team who have been scoring a great number of goals this season, with 22 goals in just 6 games, at an average of almost 4 goals per league game, scoring even more goals away from home. However, given that they have some weaknesses in defence, and are yet to keep a clean sheet away from home this season, I’m backing Over 2.5 Match Goals here as opposed to team goals – you can get this at 1.51 with 888Sport.

Juventus returned to form on Tuesday with an impressive away victory to Man City, despite falling behind. Their league form has been surprisingly poor after the loss of Andrea Pirlo and Carlos Tevez, but they still should have enough quality to win the Serie A in my opinion, and will look to return to form this week against Genoa, who have recorded just one victory this season. I’m backing Juventus to win at odds of 1.87 with with Totesport.

Finally, Peterhead take on a Brechin side who are favourites to get relegated from the Scottish League One after suffering 6 defeats in a row, and conceding 16 goals in the process. Peterhead have performed steadily so far this season, losing just one match, and will be aiming for promotion after losing just one game in what is a very competitive league. I’m backing Peterhead to win at odds of 1.67 with Ladbrokes.
