Sevilla have won their last 10 European home matches.
Man City were pushed harder than expected at the weekend but they still racked up another three points to maintain their position at the top of the Premier League. Sevilla, meanwhile, were suffering another defeat that leaves them in the bottom half of La Liga and if they are to have any hope of progressing in this competition they will surely need to take all three points here.
Sevilla were impressive at the Etihad but Kevin De Bruyne’s late winner should perhaps have not been too surprising as Sevilla have failed to win an away match all season. Their home form is somewhat more impressive, however, as they won 5-0 in their last game here and before that defeated European Champions Barcelona 2-1. Furthermore, they’ve won their last 10 European home matches. However, those were against weaker teams than they will face here and since 2003/04 English teams have an excellent record when travelling to Spain in the Champions League to face teams other than Barcelona or Real Madrid of W7-D9-L3. Another draw would certainly be an excellent result for City, particularly with Aguero and Silva likely to both still be missing, and at 27/10 looks good value.
Sevilla’s last nine home games in all competitions have all had at least three goals while both teams have scored and there have been at least three goals in 10 of Man City’s last 11 matches. With Sevilla needing to go for the three points we could see an open game and Over 2.5 Goals looks a reasonable price at 7/10. Without Aguero the goals have been a bit more evenly shared around at City in recent weeks but one name has been consistently appearing and that has been Kevin De Bruyne. football/champions-league/sevilla-v-man-city/anytime-goalscorer, as well as picking up seven assists, and he can be backed at 5/2 to add to his tally here.
