Perth Glory rate a good bet to get the better of Brisbane Roar on Saturday night.
Perth picked up an impressive 2-1 win at Sydney last weekend, their fourth win on the bounce as they’ve moved up from ninth to seventh. Next up they host Brisbane who came from behind to claim a 2-2 draw at home to the Jets, courtesy of a 69th minute own goal. Brisbane remain 5.0 second favourites for the title but will certainly look upon last weekend as an opportunity missed in what looked a straightforward fixture, particularly with four of the five sides below all dropping points.
Perth have now scored 12 goals in their last four but only managed a clean sheet against Wellington. Indeed going back slightly further, their games have been full of goals, with both teams scoring in eight of the last nine and seven of these seeing at least three goals. Their record at the nib Stadium this season is a solid W4-D3-L2, with one of those defeats coming against Wellington in their opening home game and the other against Adelaide who are in excellent form at the moment. Their record against current top-half sides this season is W3-D2-L1, with both teams scoring in five of these games and five seeing more than three goals.
After suffering heavy back-to-back defeats against Victory and Adelaide, Brisbane bounced back with wins over Sydney and the Mariners, but they look to have taken a step back again with that home draw against the Jets. Their away record this season is a mixed W3-D3-L3, with one of those wins coming at the Wanderers on the opening day of the season, another at the Mariners and the other in their last game against Sydney, who have in fact been better on the road than at home in recent times.
Perth’s proved a tough place to travel to this season and given the strength of Brisbane’s away form this season can be questioned, we’re siding with Kenny Lowe’s side to continue their excellent form in this one and continue their rise up the table. The top-half is now very much in sight for them, this after being bottom of the league after eight games.
