If you backed Wellington in all home games you would be in profit, so do so again!
Wellington were 2-0 up after just 15 minutes at home to City last Friday and though City managed to get one back soon after, Phoenix managed to hold on for a 2-1 win. That was their second victory in three games and with it they’ve stretched their lead over the Mariners at the bottom of the table to 10 points. Adelaide, meanwhile, continued their excellent form with a 3-0 win at home to Brisbane, their 10th in 13 unbeaten games as they’ve stormed up to 2nd.
Despite continuing to struggle defensively as they’ve conceded 16 goals in their last seven (2.3 gpg), the difference in the last few weeks for Wellington has been that they’ve scored nine in their last three, this after managing just four in their seven prior to that. Their home record this season is W4-D2-L3 and interestingly each of those four wins have come over top-half sides, with their other result when hosting a top-half team being a goalless draw against Brisbane as their only two home clean sheets came against these teams.

During their excellent current run, Adelaide have scored 25 goals in 13 games (1.9 gpg) whilst conceding just eight (0.6 gpg), including six clean sheets. Their away record this season is W4-D2-L4 but they’ve won their last four on the road, including at Brisbane, Champions Victory and Perth, who’ve proven very difficult to beat at home this term. They’ve travelled to each of the bottom three this season, with a win, a draw and a loss against each.
The defeat in question was at Wellington, their second loss in two trips to New Zealand since the start of last season and despite Guillermo Amor’s side’s excellent form, they look a little short to us in this one. Wellington have a strong home record against the top teams and their 5-2 win at the Wanderers proved they’re very much capable of shocking stronger sides, so we’re siding with them in this one.
