Perth should emerge victorious in their Saturday night clash with the Mariners.
Perth have led at the break in each of their six wins during their excellent current run but the fact that they managed a clean sheet against the Jets, only their second in this period, will have particularly pleased manager Kenny Lowe. Glory’s home record this season is W6-D3-L2 as their only loss since a defeat in their opening home game of the season against Phoenix was against league leaders Adelaide. Their record when hosting bottom-three sides since the start of last term is an impressive W7-D0-L1, with that sole defeat against Wellington. Perth only managed two clean sheets in these games and only three of their wins were by more than one goal.

Despite losing their last five, the Mariners have led at the break in two of their last four, at City and Adelaide. In fact, if we only look at first-half performance in the last 20 games then the Mariners are the 7th best side in the division but it’s in the second half that they’ve really struggled. Whilst they’ve only conceded 16 first half goals this term (0.7 gpg), in the second half this figure rises dramatically to 36 (1.6 gpg). Their away record is W1-D1-L8 though they managed to score in nine of these 10 matches and only trailed at the break in four. Their record when travelling to sides between 4th and 7th since the start of last season is W0-D2-L8 though their scoring record is again impressive as they managed to net in all 10 of these games and in fact led at the break in four.
Perth are in excellent form and are deservedly a short price to win this one. However, their lack of clean sheets in recent times together with the Mariner’s strong record of scoring on the road means that we’re backing Perth to win and both teams to score in this one.
