Renegades v Scorchers

Perth Scorchers travel to the Docklands to play Melbourne Renegades and they’re boosted by the return of Shaun Marsh. They’ve never lost to the Melbourne-based team in the five years of Big Bash cricket, but this Renegades team is a lot different compared to recent years, bolstered by two West Indian stars, and inter city transfers.

As mentioned, Perth welcome back Marsh, they’re still without Shaun’s brother Mitch and Adam Voges. Even with these two Aussie stars missing them have a formidable line up, who come into the came full of confidence after smashing Brisbane Heat on Boxing Day.

Like most teams, the Renegades cruised past Brisbane Heat in their opening fixture but then struggled to contain the Syndey Sixers power hitters. The Renegades have the batting line-up to rival any in this competition but questions have been asked of their bowling attack. Melbourne’s 4th choice bowler Tremain is going at 10’s in the competition and they’re struggling to find their 5th bowler, so far they’ve tried three options and all three are going over 10 an over.

This fixture will be full of runs, especially sixes and the short square boundaries will keep the crowd entertained. We’re backing the outsiders Perth, their batting can dominate the Melbourne bowling line-up and their four left arm seamers could get Gayle early, who can be sceptical to left armers early on.

Man of the Match

Shaun Marsh loves this fixture - he’s scored 215 runs in his last three outings against the Renegades. Klinger may have scored a century in this game last year but Marsh is our man to watch, he comes into the game in great form scoring 47 against the Strikers and that 182 against the West Indies. He’s well worth backing to score big and take the Man of the Match award at $10, or $3.75 to be top Perth Batsman.

Top Perth Scorchers Bowler

Jason Behrendorff has been successful in this fixture in recent years taking six wickets in the last three fixtures which these teams have met. He’s only appeared in one fixture this season but looked in good rhythm taking two wickets against the Heat. The left arm bowler will cause a few trouble for Chris Gayle and looks a good bet for top Scorchers bowler at $4.33.

Top Melbourne Renegades Batsman

Both Perth’s dangerous bowling attack and Chris Gayle historically struggling against left arm seamers, we’ve backed a lower order batsman to top score for the Renegades. Bravo looks in great touch with the bat, he’s hit 67 in the opening two fixtures including a quick fire 45. He looks massive overs to top score at $11.

Multi Fours - Spread Betting

Today’s Spread Bet pick is a Multi-Fours. Two strong batting attacks, one weak bowling line-up and short square boundaries means there should be a lot of boundaries in this fixture. This market multiplies the number of fours hit by the Scorchers by the number of fours hit by the Renegades. We’re buying at 160 points, remember each point is worth whatever stake you choose. If you placed this bet in the previous Renegades fixtures (at the same buying price), first game you would’ve won $650 if you bet a $10 stake, however in the second game you would’ve lost by thirty points. In the same fixture last year you would’ve won by 25 points. For more information and to place this bet click here.
