Pakistan v Bangladesh

Pakistan have slumped to seventh in the T20 World Rankings, despite playing considerably more games than any other team on the ladder over the last few years. Late on Wednesday they take on a Bangladesh side who have themselves, surprisingly, slipped behind Afghanistan in the rankings.

The two clashed in the Asian Cup earlier this month, where Bangladesh won by five wickets after limiting Pakistan to just 129. Back in 2015 Pakistan were also defeated 3-0 by the Tigers in an ODI series, and then got destroyed by seven wickets in a T20 contest. All these victories have come on home soil for Bangladesh, and it’s unlikely that the wickets in India will play much differently to those in Dhaka.
But, put all that aside, performing at a World Cup is a whole different ball game. Bangladesh came through the early stages including a narrow win over an average-looking Netherlands and a demolition of a shocking Oman team. Whilst Pakistan are not the force they used to be, they still have plenty of match winners with big tournament experience, and I think that will make the difference in this game. Hafeez, Akmal, Afridi and Amir will lead by example and be a shade too good for Bangladesh on the day. I like the $1.57 on Pakistan nicking a close one.

Tamim Iqbal has been the stand out player for Bangladesh over the years, and proved it once again by whacking an unbeaten 103 in their fixture against Oman, to go alongside 47 and 83 in the previous two matches. He hasn’t had the best of times against Pakistan in T20 cricket, but he’s their stand out player and is my bet to top score for Bangladesh at best odds of $3.3.

The fixture will be close, but expect Pakistan to triumph by a narrow margin. Our best bet is with Centrebet - back ‘Neither Team to win by 25+ Runs or 7-10 Wickets’ at $2.
Pakistan - 1pt @ 1.57
Tamim Iqbal - 1pt @ 3.3
Neither side win 25+ Runs or 7-10 Wickets - 1pt @ 2.00
