Tom has six strong selections on an action-packed afternoon of racing.
Ascot R2 No.3 – LET IT SLIP
Speedy Not A Single Doubt filly who third-up should be peaking here. Has been good in better grade in two runs this campaign (both over 1200m) without winning, takes a step back to the 1000m and with the claim from Johnston-Porter they may look to be positive from the wider alley, think she can put it all together today.
Let It Slip - 1pt @ 2.0Won 1pt
Balaklava R4 No.6 – MATERIALISED
Promising mare returning here for D.Jolly, was excellent on debut back in May over 1100m behind Trupt (since been a multiple city winner) when getting a long way back and charging home. Forgiving on a soft track failure two weeks later. Has since spelled and looks well placed amongst the mares to breakthrough, speed looks ok and like the 1200m for her - will be storming home late.
Materialised - 1pt @ 2.0Lost -1pts
Geelong R6 No.4 – RAGNAAR
Gelding was good albeit a touch wayward in the Norman Robinson, just looked lost/no match for an outstanding filly. Blinkers go on here which looks a must going forward, draws for the right run and should be close to his top. Has plenty of talent and can put it all together today.
Ragnaar - 1pt @ 5.0Lost -1pts
Geelong R7 No.1 - QUEST FOR MORE
Import having his first Australian start on towards the Melbourne Cup, work at Werribee has been terrific since his arrival which has pleased connections. Draws awkwardly but it appears he'll slide back in the field and look to be doing his best work late, speed looks good on paper so he should be every chance in a track that can become favourable to swoopers. Has been a runner-up fresh over 2400m at Newmarket and as reference has previously split Max Dynamite and Trip To Paris (since excellent in Caulfield Cup!)
Quest For More - 1pt @ 4.8Lost -1pts
Ipswich R3 No.6 – NEE DE PAPA
Like this 3yo taking on the older geldings, win fresh at the Gold Coast over 1100m was very good off the back of only one trial (albeit smart) – so you’d suggest he will have taken great benefit from the run. Gets in on the minimum for G.Colless and draws for the right run again tracking the leaders, horse on the up in a limited field.
Nee De Papa - 1pt @ 3.25Lost -1pts
Warwick Farm R3 No.9 – MOST EXALTED (NAP)
Really talented colt who gets the blinkers for the first time, was good at Canterbury over 1550m when he never looked comfortable – not sure he ran out the trip at this point in time, accordingly the drop back to 1300m today is a major tick. Draws for a beautiful run leading/tracking them through, class will get him home here.
Most Exalted (nap) - 1pt @ 2.9Lost -1pts
