William Hill Park R2 No.5 - CHEN BAY

Thought this fella was good on debut chasing hard and hitting the line well in on-pacers race, he gets the winkers on here and the step to 1300m looks ideal. He draws awkwardly but there looks to be a bit of speed engaged/track pattern at Sandown suits those running on off a genuine tempo. No doubt better for the first-up effort and think he can go on with it here.

He was utterly dominant on debut at Echuca over 1200m two weeks ago, they ran ok time relative on the day but the way he won he looked to leave plenty in the shed. Didnt have a public trial leading up to that first-up effort so natural improvement can be expected and a big track/the extra 100m shouldnt be an issue. Draws out so assuming Coffey will again roll forward and look to sit outside the leader, he could be Group-class galloper in the making.

Canterbury R4 No.2 - PROGRESSIVE

Mare was very good here recently over 1100m and only just missed, really nice horse the winner who just sat a few pairs closer to the speed. It looks like the 1250m will be more her go and fancy she takes a sit closer from gate 3. This race lacks depth, she'll be very difficult to beat in my book.

Ipswich R5 No.3 - FORTINI

He was excellent from the awkward draw when he had to go back in what proved to be a race difficult to make ground in, the heavy surface shouldnt pose a problem as he's been competitive in good races in town on soft tracks. Has been a proven improver second-up and gets a much cosier run from gate 4 in transit. Only carriers 55.5kgs after McGillivrays claim.
