Tom Gilmore's Best bets from Geelong, Canterbury, Murray Birdge and Ascot
Nice filly that got back at Moonee Valley in a race dominated by those on-speed, winner looks very smart (stakes filly!) and this race lacks significant depth. The step to 1400m/third-up, things will just pan out for her nicely here and she'll be winning.
Nice mare who's returning fresh off the back of a dominant trial win at Cranbourne three weeks ago, she went to the front and did it all under her own steam. At her best earlier this year she wasnt far off the then flying Sistonic (that form would flog this lot) and like that she'll bounce on the bunny from the inside draw. She'll be winning a race in town this preparation.
I'm on a journey
The gelding was 1400m to 1700m second-up at Sale (we can expect improvement) when hitting the line well in a race where it was tough to make ground, the winner Crimson Cape went to Flemington last weekend and won well (that form stacks up for this). He'll strip much fitter for the run and like that he's drawn in gate 2, he can take a sit a touch closer to the speed and be very hard to beat.
Liked this fillies debut here at Canterbury two weeks ago over the 1200m, she only just missed to a horse that'd been Group 3 competitive earlier in the year. Race plates go on (big tick for her overall condition) and she again draws favourably, with the benefit of a day at the races under her belt I think she will go very close today. Maybe slight query staying at the 1200m?
Filly formerly with Gai Waterhouse who now calls South Australia home, she was ok in what has proved a decent form race fresh at Werribee. She jumped evenly but coudnt muster early sticking on ok to the line, her best performance to date was earlier this year at Flemington when she was able to lead them up (in a good race!) so i'd like to see her bounce to the front and control things for J.Kah. She'll be a city class horse in Adelaide.
Colt was good fresh at Bunbury over the 1200m, he lead them up and fought on strongly to hold off all comers (race rated well, he ran good time on the day!). Third horse from that race has since come out and won at Pinjarra, I think the drop back to 1000m will suit as he'll again be able to roll along setting a genuine tempo, like what he's about (tough) - think he can go on with things.
