Tom Gilmore has five selections from Sunday's race meetings.
Sale R1 No.3 - CROWLEY
Debuts today this 3yo son of Written Tycoon and I reckon he has a bit of ability, two trials leading in have been quite good. The first of which he wasnt far away from a G2 winner when not asked to do too much, the second he just bowled around of 800m and looked an improved performer. He should be pretty wound up for this today, expect him to box seat from the friendly draw and be winning.
Crowley - 1pt @ 2.4
Sale R7 No.1 - ILLUSTRIOUS LAD
This is a nice horse that they thought enough of to send to the Gold Coast to compete $1,000,000 Magic Millions Cup. He blew the start and was out of play early so prepared to forgive, his performances around Murt The Flirt, Flippant and Egyptian Symbol leading up to that would have him winning this quite easily. Liked his trial at Cranbourne a week ago too, he's been kept up to the mark and should win.
Illustrious Lad - 1pt @ 3.0
Taree R7 No.1 - FABRY
He's been specifically set for this and the way he's improved from his fresh run at Randwick to going down narrowly at Wyong over 1200m suggest he's right on track. Gets a nice little 3.5kg drop in the weights and should either lead or be sitting in the box seat. Position in running vital here at Taree, he's already 3 from 3 at this track and I reckon he'll be making it win number 4.
Fabry - 1pt @ 4.4
Sunshine Coast R4 No.9 - KATCH NICCONI (NAP)
Pretty average race but I think this filly might have city-class ability, went to the races on two occasions late last year and acquitted herself well in both runs. Finished 1.3 lengths off Sold For Song on debut (since gone on to win at Stakes level!) which reads brilliantly, trialled 10 days ago over 850m and was an eye-catching winner suggesting she's come back well. Cahill will more than likely box seat and look to finish off over the top of them.
Katch Nicconi - 2pts @ 2.75
Balaklave R1 No.9 - SWIMMER
Thought her debut in town was quite ok under the circumstances, was green and a bit all over the shop but appeared to show something. Think 1400m looks ideal for her and I have a feeling they'll look to be positive early from the wide draw. If she can cross and find the fence I cant see them running her down.
Swimmer - 1pt @ 5.0
