Donald R2 No.6 - SHE'S JUST LIKA

Love it when the Johnstone stable put the blinkers on their speedsters over the short-course, the money came for this mare fresh here three weeks ago but she looked lost from the jump and as a result really never looked likely. Strips fitter/back to 1000m are big ticks, drawn out so I expect Fry to be niggling at her early to cross and find the fence. If she can get the lead this track can be notoriously difficult to make ground on and as a result she's a big chance!

Donald R4 No.6 - TYCOON SOFIE (NAP)

Thought she was good fresh at Gawler over the 1111m (weird trip) when chasing well, hit the line nicely and no doubt has come on for the run. 1200m suits and she's drawn to box seat from gate 4, they ran quicker time than the older horses later in the day at Gawler so I expect the form out of the race to hold up today, wasnt far away from a Group 2 competitive filly on debut in August last year!

Ipswich R1 No.4 - MIZUKI

Absolutely nothing wrong with her win here on debut over the 800m two weeks ago, mustered plenty of speed early - gapped them at the top of the straight and then proved to strong over the final 100m to hang on well. From the wide draw she can again find the front and with a run under her belt I see her being mighty hard to beat. She's a speed machine.

Cranbourne R2 No.9 - LAKERS LASS

This mares debut was very, very good. Was run off her legs early, found trouble when rounding the bend but really flattened out nicely in her final 100m to suggest she might make a horse. The step to 1300m will suit and the claim from B.Allen brings her in with just the 55kgs. If they roll along on-speed she'll be storming home over the top of them late, can run the splits to win this and go on to better things.

Cranbourne R4 No.12 - WEATHER THE STORM

Nice filly who was very unlucky fresh before performing well at G3 level in town, only went down 2.5 lengths to G1 winning kiwi filly Risque' (good form for this!). She arguably should have finished closer as she had an interrupted run upon straightening, dropping back to Maiden company tonight looks ideal and she draws to box seat tracking the leaders. Hits her peak third-up and should be winning.

Cranbourne R6 No.9 - MASTER OF ARTS

His return at Sandown over the 1400m was very good against the pattern, he was handy to them from the inside draw (not prime going), was forced to cut the corner upon straightening and yet still stuck on gamely when winners were swooping in better ground. Second-up/mile are major positives and he gets a nice little 0.5kg weight swing on a key rival. Expect he'll slot in somewhere midfield with cover, maybe even handier to them and be running through the line late. Good horse this who'll be worth following to 2000m.
