Tom Gilmore's best bets for Stony Creek and Grafton this Tuesday, 29 March.
Stony Creek R2 No.9 - NADEEMS MELODY
Thought this mare trialled up really nicely at Moe a weeks ago over the 1000m, ran very slick time (1.01.59) for the morning and looked to have a bit up her sleeve. Track here often plays notoriously leader bias so the fact she'll jump and run, being the one to run down at the turn is a major positive. Has been competitive around a few genuine city-class horses in the past and this race lacks overall depth. Can win fresh and progress this time in.
Nadeems Melody - 1pt @ 3.00
Stony Creek R5 No.4 - BONIFY
Was poor but had genuine excuses when dropping out at Kyneton three weeks ago over 1850m, slow recovery and may have choked down (tongue-tie goes in today). Her run prior to that was excellent in a race that rated ok for this grade, looks the natural leader on paper and the drop back to mile looks ideal. If she can get the right kind of run in transit she'll be very hard to beat.
Bonify - 1pt @ 4.20
Grafton R4 No.2 - UNNAMED STRATEGY
Debuted at Kempsey late last year over 1000m and make big ground circling the field late (race dominated by those handy to the speed). It was an enormous run and despite the fact we havent seen him since/no trial to go off, I fancy he could be very hard to beat. They go hard mid-race in maidens of poor quality like this, if he finds a spot midfield with cover he can quite easily come home over the top and get it done. Will be one worth following in the right race after breaking his duck.
Unnamed Strategy - 1pt @ 4.60
