Tom Gilmore's best bets for Pakenham and Gosford this Tuesday.
Pakenham R2 No.3 - ELLA VIOLET
Thought she was excellent fresh at Geelong on the poly track two weeks ago over the 1200m, jumped well and sat handy just following the leaders mid race before needing to improve rounding the bend but unable to do so around tiring front-runners. Key rivals had momentum at the bend and she was forced to sit/sprint when a gap came late. Just peaked on her run and went down narrowly but the effort was good. Strips fitter and back to 1100m not really a concern. Should get the box seat run from gate 4 and with room to wind up at the 400m should be very tough to beat!

Pakenham R4 No.1 - ART OF PERCEPTION
Talented colt this but can be a bit wayward, as was the case when he returned fresh at Sandown 4 weeks ago in what was a slick maiden. Failed to jump well and was basically up against it from that point on. Stuck to his guns well but tired late (off 12 month break!). Can only have improved for the run and does get blinkers/ear muffs on first time. Should jump well from the wide draw and push forward proving really hard to beat. Further suited at 1400m.
Art of Perception - 1pt @ 1.70
Pakenham R5 No.4 - WIND FORCE
Don't quite know where this colts ceiling lies, he was very good returning here three weeks ago over the 1000m when jumping straight to the front and basically dominating. Reckon he's clearly on the upward spiral and the stable are working towards a loftier goal so it wouldn't shock me to see him improve/win again. Should manage to slot into the box seat (better horse with something to chase) with speed on his inside/outside. Will peel at the 400m and be strong home over the top late.
Wind Force - 1pt @ 3.00
Pakenham R8 No.5 - GALILEO'S PEARL
Second crack at the 2000m two weeks ago at Geelong was the winning ticket, took great benefit from his previous run and despite doing a bit of work managed to prove too good. Like the inside draw considering the plan will be too again roll forward and he does get in well with 54.5kgs after the 3kg claim from E.Brown. He's bred to stay/get a trip so we may see this horse string a few together in similar grade. Even bunch this afternoon and he's come up a good shade of overs.
Galileo's Pearl - 1pt @ 6.50
Gosford R1 No.7 - VASILIEV
Reckon he was very, very good on debut over 1250m at Canterbury in what looks a good form reference going forward. Jumped well and ended up box seating behind a genuine enough mid-race tempo. Made his run at the 450m and stuck to his guns well, winner came from the second-half of the field and looks certainly above average. He had the right to wilt but he didn't, stuck at it and actually ran through the line well. Pedigree suggests he'll relish the progression to a mile and I fancy he'll be really hard to beat.
