Attention turns to Rosehill this weekend and while the weather has been cold, we have had a dry week.
The rail is out 7m for the entire circuit and the track is currently a soft 6.

Race 1 11:25am TAB.COM.AU HANDICAP 1400m
HIGH MIST's win at Beaumont had to be seen to be believed, he was an absolute mile off them in the home straight and came from nowhere to get up on the line. The step up to 1400m should suit this High Chaparral colt and if there is a knock on the fav, he will be steaming late.
OCTAVIAN AUGUSTUS was a strong winner on debut at Beaumont, he has drawn a touch sticky here and Angland will need to have a few plans from the gate to get the best run possible.
MOOHARIBA comes out of the Foxplay race on debut and wasn’t disgraced. She should take a lot from that run fitness wise and race sense wise. She gets race plates for the first time too.
SELECTIONS: No 1 FOXPLAY, No 3 Fine Mist, No 4 Octavian Augustus, No 6 Moohariba
Value Runner: No 3 Fine Mist
Race 2 12:00pm SCHWEPPES HANDICAP 1900m
SONG AND LAUGHTER was a strong winner over 1900m at Canterbury last start, she produced a really strong effort to come from well off them and was a dominant winner in the end. The wide open spaces of Rosehill should suit her racing pattern better here and she will be hard to beat.
DESTINATION TUCSON is well in the weights with only 53kgs here, being a 3yo taking on the older mares. If you forget her run last start at Randwick and go off her previous form she is well within a chance here and has had a trial since her last start flop.
PIAMIMI gets one last chance here, she drops back to fillies and mares grade and hasn’t had much luck in her last two, she should be fit enough now to plough through the conditions here.
SELECTIONS: No 1 KONTIKI DANE, No 4 Song And Laughter, No 8 Destination Tuscon, No 3 Piamimi
Value Runner: No 8 Destination Tuscon
Race 3 12:35pm TAB REWARDS HANDICAP 1100m
EL SASSO resumes off a nice trial and is coming off a win at the end of his last preparation. He is a noted first up performer in the past and although his record at Rosehill isn’t fantastic albeit early in his career I am willing to look past that and give him a chance here.
GOT THE GOSS gets a host of gear changes here in an effort to get him back to his best. He is a noted fresh performer and off a 7 week break he could produce an improved effort.
FREEZE THE CHARGES looks to take up the speed here and is an absolute flying machine, she would be more suited to 1000 here, but with no weight on her back she could prove hard to run down.
SELECTIONS: No 6 GLENBAWN DAME, No 5 El Sasso, No 3 Got The Goss, No 7 Freeze The Charges
Value Runner: No 6 Glenbawn Dame
Race 4 1:10pm ATC WINTER CUP 2400m
FOREIGN PRINCE has been fantastic this preparation with two dominating wins on his last two outings. The step up to 2400m is a slight concern, but there has been notification that he will be ridden with cover in an effort to run out 2400 and this is his best chance to do so.
JUNOOB on the quick back-up and down in grade gets another chance here. He hasn’t been showing his usual zip in his last two runs, but looked to be building well to a peak performance prior. I’m not doubting Waller to get him to perform here.
LOOPHOLE has been performing well without threatening so far this preparation and steps up to the 2400m for the first time in his career and is a place hope.
SELECTIONS: No 4 TUCANCHOO, No, 2 Foreign Prince, No 1 Junoob, No 3 Loophole
Value Runner: No 1 Junoob
Race 5 1:45pm TAB HIGHWAY HANDICAP 1800m
CALWAY CRUISER goes up in distance which she desperately needs. She wasn’t at all suited dropping back to 1500m after the run over 1600m at Wagga which was on a bottomless track. Ward is 2 from 2 on her this preparation and knows her tendencies well, as she does drop the bit in the run and needs heavy riding.
ERIKA has to carry top weight here but is clearly the best horse in the race. She has been up a long while and stretches out to 1800m for the first time of her career. She has the right man on board in Shinn to get the most economical run and save her for one short sharp burst.
ROSARUBY got the job done well at Kembla last start, what I liked about it was a 3yo filly giving the older horses a beating. She was strong through the line and dropping back to 1800m won’t hinder her as she is rock hard fit. She was only 4 lengths off Erika earlier this preparation when not suited and meets her at level weights.
SELECTIONS: No 8 AGRIONIUS, No 5 Calway Cruiser, No 1 Erikia, No 6 Rosaruby
Value Runner: No 8 Agrionius
Race 6 2:25pm CLUB MARCONI HANDICAP 1500m
DINGHU MOUNTAIN loses Bowman, but gets Shinn which is neither an advantage or disadvantage. He rises 3kgs in weight for his last start win however. He was given a masterful ride by Bowman that day and Shinn will need to weave some magic here again to win.
DUBAIINSTYLE was average last week and has to be forgotten there. He quickly backs up which shows that he has taken no harm for the run and drops back to 3yo level. Two starts back he should have bolted in at the course and distance and he deserves another chance.
CLASSIC UNIFORM comes through the same race as Lanciato and DM from 2 weeks ago. He is the one who is best off at the weights from the run, but I don’t know if he is as good as the ones that were in front of him that day.
SELECTIONS: No 2 LANCIATO, No 8 Dinghu Mountain, No 10 Dubaiinstyle, No 5 Classic Uniform
Value Runner: No 10 Dubaiinstyle
Race 7 3:05pm CIVIC STAKES 1350m
MARENOSTRO on the quick back-up looks well suited to this. He was just too poor to be true, maybe he didn’t run the mile out or didn’t carry 60kgs? He drops 4.5kgs from last week and has a great record at the track and distance and must be considered.
NINTH LEGION was a strong winner of the Eye Liner at Ipswich last start. It was a bounce back to form after a few disappointing efforts earlier in the preparation. He would ideally want the track to dry out a touch to show his best.
OFFICE BEARER on the quick back-up has a better chance here than he did last week. He has been thereabouts this preparation and only needs some luck to go his way and he will be in the winner’s circle before too long.
SELECTIONS: No 4 Vergara, No 3 Marenostro, No 1 Ninth Legion, No 5 Office Bearer
Value Runner: No 4 Vergara
Race 8 3:45pm HYLAND RACE COLOURS HANDICAP 1200m
FLAMBOYANT LASS should strip much fitter for her first up effort behind Butterboom, she was bang on speed that day and that should have her ready for this. She is a winner in soft going in the past and her form line through Single Gaze and Mahuta is good enough for this.
FIFTYSHADESOFGREY off a freshen could be dangerous here. She does need things to go her way in the run to show her best. From 14 Collett will go back and if the breaks come her way in the straight she will be storming over the top of them.
THUD didn’t have the best of luck last start, she was quite soft in the market that day and it reflected the run. She should strip much fitter for that run and given the soft gate for Shinn, she will be in the finish.
SELECTIONS: No 5 TREE OF JESSE, No 3 Flamboyant Lass, No 8 Fiftyshadesofgrey, No 10 Thud
Value Runner: No 5 Tree Of Jesse
Race 9 4:25pm TAB MORE THAN JUST WINNING HANDICAP 1500m
BOLD CIRCLE savaged the line first up and looks to have come back in top form. Collett gets along with this horse quite well and the step up to 1500 suits him ideally as well.
THURSTON could be ready to peak third up for Waller and Clark here. He savaged the line last start in the same race as Consign and the drop back to 1500 shouldn’t phase him either. He is drawn to get a great run and if he gets clear room in the straight he will be hard to hold out.
GAMBLERS BLUES up to 1500 looks ready to win a race here. He has furnished into a proper racehorse this preparation and if he can get some luck from barrier 14 he will be in the finish.
SELECTIONS: No 3 CONSIGN, No 4 Bold Circle, No 11 Thurston, No 9 Gamblers Blues
Value Runner: No 4 Bold Circle
