Pakenham R1 No.3 - TRUCULENT (x2 NAP)
Smart enough style of horse who came from the clouds fresh back in September last year over the 1100m to win in good time (six lengths quicker than older horses BM64 later in the day). Beat home Tyrannize by six-lengths (then went on to win at Flemington) and Drill Master (who then went on to beat subsequent G1 winner Palentino!). Those formlines are enormous for a race like this and despite the fact we haven't seen any trials/jump-outs, he should be too sharp for them.
Truculent - 2pts @ 3.60
Pakenham R2 No.4 - MILLINERY
Thought her debut at Flemington four weeks ago was very sound, she looked fairly new to it all going down the street/had a look around mid-race but actually knuckled down quite well over her final 200m. She looked like she may tail out but stuck to her guns. She'll take good benefit from that outing and the drop in grade suits, beat home I'm Telling Ya who recently bolted in! Will be better suited over 1200m.
Millinery - 1pt @ 1.95
Pakenham R3 No.8 - PRIMO PINTXO
Went really well returning here at Pakenham two weeks ago despite going down as a short-priced fav, the race rated well (slick time!) and the winner Starvasive went on to perform very nicely in town at Caulfield. Like the wide draw as they'll be positive early and she does take good benefit second-up/1200m. Hard to beat!
Primo Pintxo - 1pt @ 3.20
Pakenham R7 No.5 - SPEARHEAD
Was pretty average returning at Sale on a bog track over the 1000m at Sale, was really given a fairly average ride too (upside down) so pleasing to see B.Rawiller booked. The was plenty of market confidence about for his return so he's clearly going well, reckon he'll 'spike' second-up/blinkers going on for the first time. Wide draw means they'll be positive early and run second-up last prep was good in smart company.
Spearhead - 1pt @ 6.50
Pakenham R8 No.6 - SENSATION ALLY
Made it two on the trot here at Pakenham two weeks ago when again sticking at the mile, rolled along at a genuine clip mid-race but just proved far too strong and basically ran away from them winning in good overall time. Drops 1kg at the weights and again looks the natural leader on paper, if he's left alone and allowed to do his own thing he could again take plenty of catching. Latest win rated well enough to go close.
Sensation Ally - 1pt @ 4.60
Grafton R4 No.7 - KERMANDIE STAR
Filly gets the blinkers on for the first-time and comes into this off the back of a very quiet trial at the Gold Coast 23/6, prior to that she comes out of two solid races (Ipswich/Gold Coast), both of which rated well enough to win this. Her effort at the GC was particularly good, she closed hard v. the pattern and got within a length of Dylans Luck (since won three on the trot). She might measure up in town at some point.
Kermandie Star - 1pt @ 3.40
