Cessnock R2 No.8 - LITTLE SHOCKER

By a Melbourne Cup winner, but a surprisingly speedy little filly. Her two hit-outs earlier this year were both sound on-speed efforts (fading late on each occasion), reckon off the back of a break (and good trial at Newcastle over 1000m) the 900m trip should be ideal for her fresh, she can land on the bunny from the wide draw and take plenty of catching, pattern favourable early!

Pakenham R4 No.12 - DAUGHTEROF THEMOON (x2 NAP)

Really liked her trial here on the pro-ride track two weeks ago over the 1000m against a few raced youngsters, she jumped well/settled and looked fairly comfortable sitting three-deep in transit before Dale Smith asked her to quicken at the 400m mark. She picked up very nicely and after a whack on the backside really extended like a nice horse. Time was ok and runner-up has since run well in good company. Reckon a kick-off at 1200m is terrific placement (she'll get further) in an average field, she's got good ability and can win this.

Pakenham R5 No.4 - GOLD FOR KEV

He's proven to be a fairly sociable creature of late, but to be fair he's been competing in better company than this! Latest here 12 days ago he went nicely when only beaten by a promising one when jumping 1400m to 1600m, they beat the rest quite comfortably (that winner would be $1.40 here). Interesting to note he pushed Lady Selkirk two months ago at Casterton, that filly has since won on consecutive occasions at Flemington! His form is just better than these and he'll be winning.

Pakenham R6 No.3 - GIFT OF MUSIC (each-way)

Looks set for the mile now after three very sound runs over shorter trips, latest two have been impressive when ridden a touch colder/finishing off late. His maiden win was ok, but was more impressed by his run at Geelong two weeks ago over the 1300m when making plenty of ground late after sustaining what was basically an 800m run (against the race pattern/leaders dominated). Ran through the line like a horse ready to take that next step to a mile (also copped a squeeze at the jump), and against a fairly even lot/with a genuine tempo early I have no doubt he'll be hurtling home late.

Had excuses at her latest outing six weeks ago over the 1200m at Geelong, but do like she's been freshened and draws a favourable marble. Should get a beautiful trip in transit in the box-seat (PR of the race) and with quality senior hoop J.Mott engaged she should take a power of beating. Hard to get that 3 length defeat to Heatherly (G1 competitive!) out of my mind....
