Sandown R2 No.6 - I BOOGI (x2 NAP)
Was a certainty beaten on debut back in January after blowing the kick, made huge ground late to just miss. Was since spelled and returned in outstanding form recently at Flemington down the straight (1200m) at Stakes grade two weeks ago, he travelled well throughout but appeared to spit the bit out at the 400m before again picking up and running well through the line late. Reckon second-up he strips fitter and back around a bend is a big tick. Like he's drawn out, too.
I Boogi - 2pts @ 2.40
Sandown R4 No.3 - WINTA CHILLER
She made terrific ground here second-up/1500m on a bog track when it certainly proved favourable to be handy at the bend, leaders dominated this particular race so her effort to reel off a big final 400m split and get within a length on the line was very good. Reckon she gets good speed on paper here and should go close to peaking third-up, finds 'A' ground towards the centre of the track, rail out +11m could mean they're heading to the stand side fence.
Winta Chilla - 1pt @ 3.90
Sandown R6 No.2 - JUSTA HINT
Was four weeks between runs over the mile at Flemington in latest outing when running enormously, he jumped well but unfortunately was unable to slot in, sat 3-4 deep in transit throughout and was rather fierce/over-raced. He was exposed when improving from the 700m and under the circumstances his effort to sustain a run and only be nabbed in the shadows of the post was terrific. That horse went on to win $121,000 race two weeks later! Like the gap between runs again, seems to be at his best fresh!
Justa Hint - 1pt @ 4.80
Sandown R9 No.13 - FOREIGN AFFAIR
Never really got a crack at them fresh at Cranbourne when jumping favourite (had trialled well), reckon she's got some class and was a winner here earlier in the year. Sting-out is no issue and like the fact she's drawn off the track, should find the 'A' ground towards the outside fence and will be the one with the final crack at them late. She can rate to win this.
Foreign Affair - 1pt @ 7.50
Canterbury R2 No.2 - OBSIDIAN
Had two good fitness builders at 1500m and looks ready to make the jump to 1900m and win, latest efforts have been excellent making ground well late (like a horse that needs a step-up in trip). Interesting a tongue-tie goes on today, may have had some breathing issues in the past? Keen from the inside draw he'll take closer order and take plenty of beating, still on the up here.
Obsidian - 1pt @ 2.15
Canterbury R4 No.8 - ROCKAFELLA
Had one very quiet trial prior to impressive win on debut at Wyong two weeks ago (race rated ok too), that was 1000m and he was fairly easy in the market so I fancy he still had plenty of scope for improvement. Inside draw again and a progression to 1100m doesn't look an issue at all (better suited!). Should get a charmed run tracking the leaders every movements and with any sort of luck can be looking to improve upon straightening to run over the top of them.
Rockafella - 1pt @ 4.00
