Warrnambool R3 No.16 - SPERANTA
Former Sydney based mare now in the care of D.Weir, does come into this on the back of a 6 week freshen from her latest effort at Warwick Farm when fairly disappointing (forgiving) but she did perform exceptionally when resuming prior to that at Canterbury over the 1100m. Race rated strongly and winner looks a genuine Saturday performer, while 3rd horse has since won/then run well in town. She's been at her best when allowed to find her feet early, expect D.Lane to position up midfield and be far too strong late.

Warrnambool R4 No.5 - JOHNNY DOWRY
Really liked the win mid-June on a bog track at Bendigo over 2400m, he didn't have any favours on that occasion and was forced to improve a long way from home. He managed to sustain his run to finish strongly through the line and really did gap everything else. Not concerned by the space between runs, he had a quiet spin over the sticks early July then trialled at St Arnaud in good fashion. Gets through heavy surfaces with no issue and fancy he's still on the up, this is an average lot.

Warrnambool R5 No.3 - NICCORAMA
Keen to play around the short-priced fav here, reckon this mare can topple her. Returned fresh at Warracknabeal three weeks ago over the 1200m on a bog track and won exceptionally well, gave windburn to some decent enough midweek gallopers (who've performed very well since) and gave every indication she'd physically improve for the outing. She's 2 from 2 on bottomless track (strikes again today) and like she's drawn out, should get a charmed run midfield and with the progression to 1300m I expect she'll find the 'A' ground and be strong over the top late.

Warrnambool R7 No.2 - ACT OF VALOUR (x2 NAP)
Nice horse this, and yet another thats been transferred to the D.Weir stable. He hasn't been to the races since October of last year but does show a liking to sprint fresh. His run resuming at Caulfield 3/10 last year over the 1200m was excellent (race rated!), he narrowly missed chasing some genuine stakes/group class gallopers, before second-up getting within 2 lengths of subsequent G1 winner Malaguerra (if you don't mind!) at Geelong. This is an average BM70 and he really does rate to have panels on this lot, should get through the ground no worries.
Act of Valour - 2pts @ 2.20
Hawkesbury R3 No.9 - RATHER SWEET
Nice filly this whose record is better than what it reads, was fairly impressed by her recent trial at Warwick Farm (25/7) over 807m on a soft track, she had a clear gap on rivals and looked like she had plenty more to offer. Got through what was a fairly testing surface with ease and gave every impression that 1000m fresh would be right up her alley. When resuming earlier this year over 1000m she pushed Tale Of Choice (went on to run super in G2 Euclase), and then herself got within 2.6 lengths of Astern in the G2 Silver Slipper - thats form which rates/is certainly strong enough for this.
Rather Sweet - 1pt @ 2.25
Hawkesbury R4 No.1 - CALL THE COPPERS
Really liked his debut when leading on what proved a swoopers track at Wyong three weeks ago over 1000m, winner of that has since come out and again won well in metropolitan grade (looks promising!). Thought he certainly would take good benefit from the outing and like the fact they stick at the 1000m. He'll roll to the front from the wide draw and take plenty of catching, should be too slick.
